"Daddy! What is this?!" My sister, Maria, cries out in worry, looking back and forth between her red dot and my dad.

I look to my dad who is staring down at the red dot on his hand in shock and fright. "I-I honestly don't know sweet pea, but we have to get moving." He stutters with tears in his eyes as his eyes remain glued to the dot.

Wasting no extra time, we pile into the car and drive to the grocery store in silence, all of us in complete shock as quiet tears continue to flow down all of our faces

Wasting no extra time, we pile into the car and drive to the grocery store in silence, all of us in complete shock as quiet tears continue to flow down all of our faces. While driving through the town, we notice people running rampant, people trying to get into closed stores, and people trying to board up their houses. I can only imagine what the grocery store will look like by the time we get there. I shiver at the thought.

We pull up to the store, and my breath gets caught in my throat, a shaky hand reaching and covering my mouth to stifle a sob. It is worse than what I envisioned. People are storming towards the store, not even bothering to completely park their cars as some are left parked in the center of the lot. Others are frantically loading their trunks with supplies before speeding out of the area.

My dad hurriedly rushes us out of the car, and we scurry towards the crowded building, hands folded together tightly to avoid losing each other in the chaos

My dad hurriedly rushes us out of the car, and we scurry towards the crowded building, hands folded together tightly to avoid losing each other in the chaos. I try to take in everything at once but am immediately overwhelmed by the sounds of car alarms blaring, horns beeping, people screaming, children crying, glass breaking. I see loads of people trying to push and shove their way into the store- almost as if it's Black Friday and there is some crazy, once-in-a-lifetime deal. Some people are arguing over getting inside, while others sigh in defeat as they turn away from the store, giving up on trying to get supplies. Children are sobbing as flustered parents try to calm and comfort them.
