It’s 5am and I just woke up after terrible nightmares. All I want is Bridget, but it’s not going to happen. I pick up my phone and call her.

“Luke? Are you okay?” Bridget asked in a panic.

“I’m okay,” I lied, “I just wanted to hear your voice.”

“Don’t lie to me Luke. What’s wrong?” Bridget asked.

“It was just a nightmare. I can’t seem to shake that asshole,” I answered her admitting the truth.

“I’ll be there in a second,” Bridget said as she hung up the phone.

What was she doing?  How was she going to do this?  I pondered over these questions until I heard a knock on the door.

“Bridget, how are we going to do this?” I asked before opening the door.

“Just crack the door and wait,” Bridget told me. I did as I was told and just seconds later Bridget’s arm was jetting through the opening, “Just lean against the wall and grab my hand.”

“I love you,” I told her.

“I love you too, Luke,” Bridget said, “You will be okay. I know that dream was horrid, but I will be there tonight. You won’t ever have to do this alone again.”

“I don’t know if I can do it without you,” I said.

“Luke, you’re not doing this without me. I’m here. I’m not going anywhere. I will sit right here all day if I have to,” Bridget explained, “You’re not alone in this. I’m by your side for the rest of our lives.”

“But I am doing this alone today. You’re not here like you would be normally. I can’t just pull you into my arms,” I told her.

We sat there for a moment in silence before Bridget let go of my hand. I didn’t have time to speak before she was standing in front of me. She leaned down and grabbed my hands helping me up off the floor.

“I love you with every ounce of my soul. If this is what you need then this is what you will get,” Bridget said as she stood on her tip toes and kissed me.

“We can wait,” I told her as I pulled away placing my forehead against hers.

“You trying to call off our wedding?” Bridget smirked.

“No. I want to marry you, but we can wait a few days,” I said to Bridget.

“We can do this today. No, we will do this today,” Bridget said.

“But you wanted to do the whole not seeing each other before the wedding thing,” I said.

“Luke, we are so far from traditional. I mean I’m pregnant. If that’s not the farthest from traditional then I don’t know what is. Why do we need to have a traditional wedding when it doesn’t fit us?” Bridget said making her point clear.

“I see your point. Brit is going to have a nervous breakdown,” I informed her.

“I know, but she will be okay,” Bridget agreed.

“Bridget Bowman, I know you’re in there! You better open this door right now!” Brit screamed as she beat on the door.

Bridget and I laughed as Bridget opened the door. The look on Brit’s face was priceless as we stood there. I had my arms wrapped around Bridget’s shoulders and I was bound to be grinning from ear to ear.

“What the hell are you two doing?” Brit asked as she came in the room closing the door behind her.

“Well, nothing now. Thanks for that,” I smirked.
