It had been a stressful month for me and my mates. We were tirelessly working to prepare for this battle, we had endless contingencies. I can literally say I have plans A thru Z. with all this planning we hadn't had much time just to be a family so when my mates took me and the kids to a private beach for the day I was thrilled. We had my entire guard with us as well as a few of the king's guard members for protection but they were staying a distance away to keep a perimeter.
It was amazing seeing the kids just let loose and play in the water. Their faces were adorable when they saw the ocean for the first time. They ran through the water and splashed each other giggling the whole time. Me and my mates joined them and we spent at least 2 hours playing little games and just having fun in the water. Eventually we all settled down with me and the kings on a large towel and the kids looking for seashells and pretty rock. Every few minutes one kid would run up and show us all the treasures they had found and it was just adorable.
I smiled at my mates "thank you for this" I said. I received gentle smiles and adoring looks in return "we all needed this cara mia. We have done everything we can to prepare. We wanted to just enjoy the day" Aro said while watching the kids with a fond smile. "Yes and after a thousand years you learn you must take time for the little things. There will always be something else, you must make the time now" Caius said while giving me a gentle kiss. I pulled away and gave them each a loving smile "well I loved it, we need to do this more often. It's easy to get distracted in the middle of all this" I said while gesturing to the world around us. "Yes, but we will always make time for you and the kids. We even have a little surprise planned for tonight" Marcus said, giving me a mischievous smile.
Turns out that surprise was a stoner night. After we put the kids to bed the entire castle was bubbled by Josh and we were made human for the night by Clarrisa. Turns out they had given Josh the last few nights off just so he could conserve his strength. Bella and the twins are guarding the kids so me and my mates were free to have a care free night. I was immediately ripping the bong. God I missed being stoned...sometimes being a vampire sucks...ha sucks...what was I thinking about?....I'm hungry. "I'm hungry" I said to my mates who pointed to the table full of food that I didn't notice being too busy getting high for the first time in a few months.
Eventually me and my mates where in a circle around the floor surrounded by pot and snacks and it was fucking great. We watched grandma's boy and cuddled and laughed about nothing. I loved watching the kings high, they acted like little kids which was hilarious for the fearsome volturi kings. The funniest part of the night was when Caius took Aro's chocolate cake and started running around the room with Aro chasing him. Me and Marcus just sat back and laughed our asses off. Aro really has an obsession with chocolate and Caius has an obsession with pissing Aro off. Eventually I made them sit back down like children and I gave Aro back his cake. He was so happy he beamed at me like a 5 year old. Seriously they really act like kids.
The best part of the night was falling asleep with my mates cuddled around me. I haven't felt that since I became a vampire. You would be surprised how much I miss sleep...no you wouldn't. I loved my sleep. It was one of the things I missed most about being human so I relished in the feeling of rest I got now before they were over. All too soon I woke up craving blood and I knew my night of relaxation was over and it was right back to ruling. I grounded loudly and my mates chuckled and groaned with me. Time to be queen again.
