"Sounds amazing" I tell him honestly. "Give me one second" I add before grabbing one of my make up wipes to remove the remains of mascara under my eyes.
No need to go outside looking like complete emotional wreck, when already feeling like one.
"Okay, I'm ready." I grab my purse and my phone, put on my dark brown coat and then I'm ready to go.
Jace takes my hand and gently pulls me out of the door. On our way to the car, my phone vibrates in my pocket, telling me I have a notification on instagram. I ignore it for now, because I remember Bree's suggestions from earlier.
"I have something to ask you" I let him know, just when we arrive at his Q5.
"What's up?" Jace answers as we hop in.
"Bree asked me if we want to eat dinner with her and Austin tomorrow. I wanted to check with you first before answering" I explain to him, putting on my seatbelt.
"Do you want to go, after everything?" he asks me back, starting the engine and pressing the seat heater button for me.
"Yeah, I think I'd like to meet Austin. Besides, I need some normality" I tell him half-smiling.
"Alright, I have something at six thirty, but I can do seven" Jace says, placing his hand on my thigh as usual.
"What do you have at..." I start but interrupt myself. A client, of course. The knot in my stomach returns. "Nevermind" I add, taking a look at the scenery we're passing on our way.
Jace's drug dealing is still a sensitive topic for me, especially after seeing what those drugs can do to people today. I hope my uneasy feeling will fade, I don't want to worry about it every time the situation comes up. I can tell that Jace is avoiding talking about the topic too, he just squeezes my thigh softly in response.
I take the time until we arrive at Jace's apartment to answer Bree.

"Okay, dinner tomorrow is on" I confirm to Jace.
He nods at me and then sighs. "Fuck. I never thought I'd ever go on a double date. You're making me go soft, Mila" he says to me.
I know that he's joking, but after everything that happened today, my sensible self can't help but feel just a little offended.
"Is that a bad thing? We don't have to go..." I say quietly.
"Hey. I was kidding, brighten up. I'lll just have to punch someone in the face after to feel like a man again" he says tapping my nose with his finger tip, quickly looking back to the road.
