34: the Promotion

THEA'S P.O.V

Waking up in your own bedroom after a long holiday feels kinda weird, like something is missing. I had a mixed feeling when I woke up in our own bedroom the next morning. It has been a few days since Arthur and I came back to London, I'm still a bit upset that we had come back.

Dinner with Matthew went well 3 days ago, we talked a lot about my sister, basically me learning to know about her. And of course there was a session where I cried, when Matthew told me the journey of her illness. How she was diagnosed with breast cancer and the day she passed away. Matthew also gave me a few things that belongs to Olivia, he wanted me to have a few part of her belongings.

"It's an album filled with her photos, mostly from her teen photos. I think you will need it more than I do" he said as he handed me the album.

Taking the album from his hand, I opened the first page to a photo of her wearing a school uniform. She was standing with a man and a woman whom I guess her foster parents. She looked just like me when I was young, feels like I'm looking into my own self.

"Thanks, Matt"

Matthew and Arthur also grew a bond, it was basically their first meeting as in laws. There was no tension between them, Arthur thanked him for being kind to me and he was actually glad that Matthew is my brother in law. But of course there was a time where Arthur being stupid, telling Matthew not to flirt with me, as a joke.

"Oh God you did not just say that to him, Arthur!" I hit my husband's thigh.

Matthew laughed. "It's okay, I completely understood why he said that. Don't worry, mate, I will never do something like that to Thea. Flirting with her means that I disrespect Livy, no matter how much Thea portraits her. Plus, she is my sister in law. I'm not the type of man who flirts with my own family"

I burst out laughing. "See? Matthew is a gentleman"

Arthur shook his head. "I know, I'm sorry I was just joking, man"

"Matt, I'm sorry for asking but, have you ever thought about finding another girl? You're still young though"

"No, not now. I'm still madly in love with Livy," he confessed and I could see sadness in his eyes when he mentioned Olivia's name. "Maybe I will one day, when I'm ready"

I gave him a meaningful smile. I know it will be hard for him to move on, knowing how much he loves and adores Olivia. I would be too if I were in his shoes.

"Thea, Boss is asking for you," Patricia called as she stood by the door, waking me up from the flashback I just had.

I stopped what I was doing and going with her to Matthew's office room. Work just started again yesterday, though it felt so soon to be working again but I'm glad to meet my friends and my colleagues again.

I knocked on Matthew's office room.

"Come in," I heard him said from the inside. I opened the door and peaked in to see Matthew sitting on his chair, a laptop in front of him. "Thea, come sit"

I closed the door behind me and took a seat on the chair in front of him. "You're asking for me?"

"Yes. Lionel and I have spoken about our project, we met yesterday to finalize everything," he began. I completely forgot about that project. It has been a while since we last talked about it. I haven't seen Lionel again since our last meeting. "Lionel and I agreed to give you a promotion"
