Y/n sat on her bed, her heart beating a mile a minute. All this time she had been writing to Tom. Every intimate word that she had written, had always gone to him, the brother of the man she was to marry.

The letters sat in front of her as she read over them, noticing for the first time, the hints that showed Tom was the writer. She felt like she was going to lose her mind, all these months and it wasn't her betrothed she was writing to, all these months it was a man she would never be with, someone she could never be with.

She felt lied to, exposed and out in the open. The secrets and intimate words that should be shared only between husband and wife were now known by another.

"Your highness, the queen has requested to see you," Hannah said and Y/n nodded, standing up and making her way towards the door, her lady's maid following close behind.

"I cannot believe you, Thomas, you sent her letters, pretending to be me," James said, walking into his little brother's room. A smirk made its way to Tom's face.

"Well hello to you as well, brother,"

"Don't play dumb with me, you sent her letters and said they were from me," He said and Tom only shrugged. "Give them to me," He said and Tom shook his head.

"Why would I do that?" He said and James scoffed.

"They're to my fiancee. They're supposedly from me so I have the right to read them,"

"Yeah...no," Tom said, "In the recent months you've barely even acknowledged that she was alive, now you want the personal letters between her and me?" Tom asked and James shook his head.

"When it has to do with my future marriage I do have a right to know what was said," James said and Tom shrugged.

"Well brother, let me make something very clear, you will never read those letters but let me tell you right now, the things that she said," Tom paused for a second, "It'll keep me awake for many nights to come, imagining what I might do to her," Tom whispered standing up and making his way towards the door before turning around. "And don't even think about tearing my room apart looking for them. I'm not stupid enough as to leave them just lying around," He said before leaving the room.

-

Y/n arrived back at her room to see Tom sitting on her bed, going through the letters.

"Hello darling," He said looking up, a smile on his face, different from the usual smirk. "I see you've been busy," he said, motioning to the letters. Y/n just stood still, unsure what to do as Tom stood up and walked towards her.

"What are you doing here, Tom?" She asked and he stopped right in front of her.

"I came to see you, of course," He whispered, looking deep into her eyes. Y/n only shook her head.

"That can't be the only reason," Y/n said and Tom smirked, walking back to the bed to pick up a letter.

"My love, our first night together I can only imagine will be something out a fairytale. The way your hands will caress my-"

"Shh!" Y/n said, rushing over to Tom and ripping the letter out of his hand. He only smirked as he leaned against the bedpost.

"You can imagine how surprised I was to hear a princess write such dirty things, especially to a man she's never met," Tom said and Y/n scoffed, looking out the window that overlooked the garden area.

"You would know. Writing and pretending to be someone you're not," Y/n said and Tom let out a laugh at her comeback.

"I will admit, at first I was just doing it to get under his skin but..."

"But what?" Y/n asked crossing her arms.

"After a while I looked forward to your letters, to connect with you," Tom said and Y/n gave him a sceptical look. "Can you forgive me for lying about who was writing the letter?" He asked and Y/n looked down at the floor.

"When I realized that I wasn't writing to James, I felt like a part of me had been exposed and I couldn't get it back," Y/n said and Tom sighed before walking up to her and running his hands up and down her arms.

"Y/n, I promise you that I am the only one who has read those letters. Not James, not my parents, nobody else. So everything that you and I have said to one another these past few months have never been told to another," Tom said and Y/n nodded, looking down at the ground again.

Tom brought his hand up to her chin and raised her head to look at him.

"Y/n, these past few months I've fallen in love with you, everything I've said was true. Everything I've felt hasn't been a lie. Please tell me that you feel the same way," Tom said and Y/n sighed.

"Tom, I thought I was writing to James for eight months, now that I know it was you, don't you think I want to? These past two weeks have just been so confusing and I'm unsure of what to do," She said and Tom nodded.

"Then we'll start over. Start from the beginning and hopefully, you'll start to feel the same way," Tom said looking deep into her eyes. Y/n sighed again.

"Tom, I'm going to be marrying James in one month, your brother," Y/n said and Tom shook his head.

"Y/n, I want to see where this takes us. I want to be with you. You deserve better than someone who denied your existence for eight months. You deserve someone who will love you in the ways that you should be. Y/n, I will do that, I will love you every day that we are together because I love you. So fucking much and I know that we met two weeks ago but the letters showed me what no one else would see, a side of you that is so personal that few will ever get the chance to know. But I want to know, please, what do you say?" Tom said and Y/n's eyes watered. She then did the only logical thing that she could at the moment.

She kissed him.

She brought her hands up to his hair and he wrapped his arms around her waist as the kiss deepened. Tom picked her up easily and made his way to the bed, dropping her softly on top of the letters as he continued to kiss her. Tom pulled away for air, staying on top of her as he caught his breath.

"So is that a yes?" He asked and Y/n let out a laugh.

"That's a yes."
