“Good morning, Yusha,” I said. “You’re looking excited today, aren’t you?”
“Yeah!” Yusha said. “I’m feeling very excited.”

“I’m looking forward to the ranking matches starting today!” Yusha said.

We arrived at school after that reminder of Yusha’s awesomeness. Since there are so many matches today, there are no lectures, and the matches will start after a short briefing. Of course, the total number of matches will decrease from tomorrow, so the lectures will restart then.
“Good morning, Shilde, Hira!” Yusha said.
“Hey, morning~!” Shilde hums.
“G-Good morning!” Hira stammers.
Shilde and Hira have arrived at the usual time. Well, in times like this, it’s better to be business as usual so you don’t get confused.
“Morning, you two,” I said. “Did you sleep well?”
“Yeah!” Shilde said. “It was a perfect night.”
“Y-Yes!” Hira said. “I slept soundly!”
Hmm, hmm. Good sleep is important. And now…
“Did you eat properly?” I asked.
“Y-Yeah…” Shilde said. “I did.”
“Y-Yes,” Hira said, “I did as well.”
Hmm, hmm. It’s also important to eat. And now…
“Did you make sure to eat your vegetables?”
“We’re good…!” Shilde yelled.
H-Huh? I was just trying to relieve the tension, but why that reaction?
“Ahaha…” Yusha said. “It feels like your nervousness is rubbing off on us.”
I think I just saw this for the first time… Yusha’s bitter smile. I’m so nervous that it’s rubbing off on everyone else?! It’s kind of embarrassing…

Our teacher takes us to the viewing room. The virtual battleground is projected on a large monitor. Humans have amazing technology, don’t they?
“Now then, the ranking matches will soon begin. Please rest assured that the teacher in charge will explain how to use the virtual space combat room just before your match. With that… begin!”
With the teacher’s shout, 8 people appear on the monitor. I couldn’t get swept up in the excitement of the match…! I have to keep an eye on what the other parties are doing and what their weaknesses are! Maybe they’ll be the party we’ll face in the semi-finals.
“This may not be so scary!” Hira says.
It seems her worries have been eased. Alright… I’ll do my best here! Our party will dominate these ranking matches!
