THAT SAME DAY, MONDAY, Mittie had arranged to speak with Albert after everything that had happened since Saturday after work at the Ministry. Since the Minister had given Annelisse and Draco the day off, they had worked together all day.
"So, you are not going to tell me what happened?" Mittie asked as they sat down in the ministry cafeteria after ordering drinks.
"What are you talking about?"
"You disappeared, you left with Daphne." She explained.
"It's not what you think. She and I had a previous conversation about the obvious." He shrugged as he spoke by way of explanation.
"And what happened, what did you talk about?"
"We talked about the reality between Draco and Annelisse, the fact that there is nothing that either of us can do to avoid it and be us who take the place of the other." He took a sip from his glass and gave a little gasp.
"I don't mean to sound rude but it's true." She shrugged "and I'm really sorry, for both of you." She frowned at that last.
"Don't be sorry." He shifted in her seat "Actually, there's something I wanted to tell you."
"The fact that?"
"That I like you, Mittie." To which she widened her eyes surprised to hear something like that, almost even blushing "Since I met you, I saw how special you were. And don't get me wrong, I still feel the same for Annelisse but I can't deny that I like you either."
She gasped heavily "I don't know what to say about this, Albert." She shook her head slightly.
"I don't pretend that you say anything, just accept it. You are an incredible woman Mittie, any man would be fascinated by you, your personality." He said, causing her to blush because, although it was hard for her to recognize it, she had also noticed Albert from day one, but she knew that Annelisse was there and she could never do something like that to her, go after him or hook up with him.
"And I don't want to do things wrong or fast. It's clear that time needs to pass, everything to change, but I really like you, Mittie." He smiled at her with some amusement, but sincere.
"Is that how you pick up all the girls? Because it sucks." She scoffed, to which Albert tried to hold back a laugh running his tongue over his teeth.
"You are not a girl, you are a woman." He replied.
She, amused by his words, leaned towards him on the table, resting her elbows on it. "Let's see what happens and then we'll talk about that date."
"What date?"
"The one we will have in the future and you yourself will ask me to attend." She smirked with some mischief.
Albert just smiled. That was one of the things he had liked the most about Mittie, her ease, her self-confidence and the way she spoke no matter what they thought or said, that she was just like him.
"What will you do now?" Mittie asked, catching hid attention, making him look at her "With Annelisse." She gulped, unsure of hearing the answer.
"I'm not going to remove her from my life. In spite of everything, she will always be important in my life, but I suppose that I will try to remove what I feel for her, I will try to move forward. I also deserve my chance in love and although I would have liked to with her, we were not destined. " He shrugged "I don't want to lie to you, Mittie Rose Evans." He said that last thing in a funny tone, which made her smile.
"Using my full name?" She raised an eyebrow.
"It's been so much paperwork with you that I can't get it out of my head anymore." Albert rolled his eyes, to which Mittie blushed, lowering her head slightly "You could use it: Rose. It's pretty."
"Only my mother calls me Rose, no one has ever done it and I don't like it, I prefer Mittie." She explained.
"Okay, Rose." He scoffed, causing her to laugh.
"You are impossible, Galbott." She shook her head.
"We could... go on a date this weekend." He commented with a clearly shy smile on the face.
"What happened about waiting?"
"Well, nothing has to happen, if you don't want to. We can have an old-fashioned date. I invite you to dinner, I know you a little, I woo you..." he teased her a bit.
"I would love you to do exactly that same thing." She lightly licked her lips, trying to hide the smile that had appeared on her face.
"I can't wait for Saturday at seven o'clock to arrive at your front door." He answered, letting her know in turn what time was their future date this weekend.
Although she did not want to, she could not help liking the way Albert was, being just like her, daring, launched and with that mischief, besides finding him terribly attractive. Mittie had not been very lucky in love, she in fact, gave up on it years ago, remaining single to this day and Albert had caused something that no one had achieved in many years. Even though she felt a little bad at the idea, couldn't help but feel attracted to him.
