THAT SAME DAY, Albert and Annelisse had been sent to review certain cases. After that, they only had to stand guard around London, covering their other two companions. They had barely spoken yet given the job, but at one point when Albert saw her smiling, he did not hesitate to make conversation.
"You're smiling." He commented out of nowhere as they both walked the streets of London.
She turned her face to him "And what about it?"
"Nothing, I'm happy that you are and by the way you do it, it's because something good happened." He explained.
"Albert, I don't feel comfortable talking about this with you." She lightly gritted her teeth, wincing with her lips.
"I'm fine, if that's what you're worried about. I told you I knew the risks and I'm really happy for you. Plus, I wanted to talk to you about something. You know I can't lie to you and/or hide anything from you."
"About what?" She stopped, causing Albert to do so as well.
He sighed before speaking "I have a date on Saturday. With Mittie."
Annelisse widened her eyes, freaking a bit even at such information. Not that it bothered her, but it seemed strange to her "You and—Mittie?" She asked Albert.
"Well she's good, I like the way she is and I have to move on, I can't get stuck with you." He shrugged and they walked again as they scanned the streets, supervising.
"Don't get me wrong, it doesn't bother me, it's just that I wasn't expecting it at all, but thanks for telling me." She smiled sincerely at him "I'm trying to get used to it, I guess."
"And what about you, what happened in the end?" He asked "You didn't tell me how the reading of the will was."
At that, Annelisse from her bag took out the letter. She had been carrying it with her since yesterday, thinking about the remote idea of showing it to Draco, which she ultimately did not do. She handed it to Albert, who opened it and began to read.
As Albert read, he raised an eyebrow, made certain faces. Annelisse just watched him, mentally reviewing the letter once more, reading it in her mind. For Annelisse it was complicated, since she hated Lucius for what he did, but the fact that he left her that letter and gave his life to give hers back —and with it, Draco and her a chance—, made a part of her even love that person who caused her so much pain.
Because how do you hate someone who gives it's life in this way? She knew that Draco hated his father after knowing what he did and wanted to show him the letter, but once again she did not want him to know the truth of that night, that he himself—Draco, was the one who helped them make the Unbreakable Vow.
Albert snorted after reading the letter and handed it back to Annelisse, who put it in her bag again "I really don't know what to say, Ann." he widened his eyes.
"I know, I'm the same. I mean, he ruined my life, but then... he gave his, so I could go back." She frowned at her own words in some confusion even.
"Does this mean that there is no danger of death anymore?"
"I think so, but the book said that it lost it's mortality, not that it wasn't painful or dangerous, I don't know what could happen. Am I ready for it? Because I don't know."
"Annelisse, you think it too much. Tell him at once." Albert spoke seriously "He also deserves to know the truth."
"I know, okay?" She raised her voice slightly "It's just that I'm scared, I'm trying to protect—"
