you were a second year resident at GSMH, your dad was the chief of surgery and your mom was still chief of general surgery.

You walk into the residents lounge and see your childhood best friend Ruben.

"Hey! Who's service are you on today?" you ask

"Karev's, you?" he asks

"Bailey's" you say

"Lucky, she loves you" he complains

"Not when i'm on her service, trust me" you laugh. You change into your light blue scrubs and meet Dr. Bailey.

"Hey Dr.Bailey, i'm on your service today!" you smile

"Ah finally a good resident! Yesterday my resident was absolutely useless" she says

"Don't worry, i won't let you down" you reply. You both get paged to the er and run there.

"Mona Stefan, 33, G.S.W to the left lung, coded once in the field. Vitals are stable for now" the paramedic announces as you all walk to trauma 3.

You see an intern standing there doing nothing and you groan.

"You aren't gonna save this woman standing there, move!" you shout

"You are just like your mother" Bailey says and you smile

Suddenly the moniter beats faster "Shes coding!" you say

"Okay charge to 200!" Bailey says and it doesn't stabilise her "Crap! 300!"

Then you hear the dreaded flatline. Great way to start your day.

"Shepherd call it" Bailey says

You look up at her "Time of death: 9:23". After the loss of Mona you just had to carry as usual because that's what the job is at the end of the day. You do some of Baileys pre and post ops then meet Ruben and Katie in the tunnel.

"What a crappy day! I've already lost a patient and it's not even 11am" you groan and take a bite of your chocolate bar.

"Well i had a baby who died for 2 minutes when he was born" Ruben says

"That happened to me" you say

"When did you have that patient? did they survive?" Katie asks

"No i was the patient" you say and they look at you in shock

"You died when you were born!?" Ruben says

"Yeah, didn't you know? Had a heart failure or something" you say like it was nothing

"How are you not acting like that isn't a big thing! That's huge!" Katie says

"Do you even know me?" you laugh "Trust me, that's not huge. Finding out your mom was on a vent because she had covid was big. Almost losing your dad when he got hit by a semi is big. The list goes on"

You scrubbed in on Dr.Bailey's surgery and it was a success. You see Katie at the nurses' station computer so you walk over there.
