you've been with your boyfriend Phillip for a few months now, he's met your family and they all adore him. but you've been invited over to have dinner with his family, who you've never met.
"mothers don't like me! i'm not a motherly person!" you rant. you're getting ready with your mom, amelia, maggie, zola and ellis. bailey, scout and uncle link are in the backyard playing soccer, as usual.
"of course mothers like you, you're y/n!" aunt maggie comforts
"i can't find my converse!" you worryingly say, searching high and low around your room for them
"i borrowed them yesterday, here you go" zola says and hands you your shoes
"you always steal my stuff! i'm under enough stress as it is!his mom is a lawyer! a lawyer! they judge everything for a job!" you rant
"and i'm a surgeon! trust me babe, i'm not good with mother's either. when i met your grandma for the first time, i had my hair in a stupidly high ponytail because i was so nervous" mom says and aunt amelia bursts out laughing
"show us! show us!" zola and ellis laugh.your mom throws her hair up into a high ponytail with your pink scrunchie

you all burst out laughing at your mom's hair that you don't realise the time.
"crap! i'm gonna be late! do i look okay?" you ask
"gorgeous as always" mom says
"remember to be yourself!" aunt maggie says
"love you!" aunt amelia says and you leave the house. you walk over to Phillip's house which is only across the road and ring the doorbell.
Phillip opens the door and welcomes you in "y/n! hey! come on in!"
"thank you" you smile and respectfully remove your shoes. his house is so posh and open, very modern and so gorgeous.
"hello y/n, so lovely to finally meet you! i'm jane and this is ian" his mom welcomes and hugs you
"hey, thank you so much for inviting me over for dinner today! you're house is lovely" you compliment and she thanks you. his dad walks downstairs and he seems very nice. you all sit together for dinner, steak and chips.
"so y/n, phillip tells me you're mom is a surgeon, is that correct" jane asks
"yeah, she's a general surgeon. it's pretty cool, i like to watch sometimes" you say
"and what does your dad do?" ian asks and phillip glares at you
"he was a neurosurgeon but he died in 2015" you say. you miss your dad every day and don't like talking about him to other people so that was very brave of you to do.
