today was your first day at SDA and your nerves were through the roof. your parents had to perform surgery on the patient who came in the night of your recital so they can't come to your first day but it's okay because your uncle alex and aunt jo are coming. you were really close with them, you trusted alex with your life and jo was like the big sister you never had. you were in the kitchen making a smoothie bowl whilst watching a video that SDA sent you to learn when your dad walks in with your brother.
"bailey you are not wearing a dinosaur onesie go get changed" he says
"but y/n wore a unicorn onesie on stage!" bailey complains
"because it was my costume idiot" you add
"you excited for your first day?" dad asks
"no i'm so nervous! what if they don't like me? what if i fall on my face? what if the people there are rude? what if they're advanced dancers like the ones in paris?" you rant
"you got the scholarship because you're talented and deserve it! you're gonna be amazing, like you always are" dad compliments
"thanks dad, love you" you say and you hug your dad. you go upstairs to the bathroom of the dream house and jump in the shower. you go back into your room and turn on your LED lights whilst laying out your clothes. you change into your new dance uniform: leggings, nike sports bra and team jacket with your name on the back. you can't find any socks so you walk into your sisters room to take some.
"Zo i need socks" you say, rummaging through her sock drawer
"get out of my drawer!" she complains. you pick up a picture of a boy and laugh
"isn't that the boy in your math class? the one you were talking to when i picked you up the other day?" you ask and she nods "he's cute. he's no leonardo dicaprio but he's cute"
"who's that?" she asks
"you don't know who leo dicaprio is? have you been living under a rock?" you say
"what happened?" mom asks
"zola doesn't know who leo dicaprio is! you know, jack from titanic?" you reply
"ohhhh him, seriously zo? you've never heard of him" mom laughs. you all go downstairs and alex and jo knock on the door.
"hey y/n!" alex greets and high fives you
"your new jacket looks amazing!" jo compliments
"thank you!" you reply
"thanks for taking her guys, we owe you one" dad says and they smile "good luck today princess, you'll do amazing!"
"i love you so much, make sure you film some dances to show us when you get home!" mom says and hugs you
"love you too, you ready?" you say to alex and jo and they nod. you get in the back seat of their car and drive off. 'sweet child of mine' by guns n' roses plays on the radio and you start singing along
"she's got a smile and it seems to me reminds me of childhood memoriessss" you sing
"how on earth do you know this song?" alex laughs
"dad listens to music when he's cleaning and he always plays this song, besides it's a classic!" you reply and you all laugh. finally, you arrive outside the studio and you walk in between alex and jo.
"hello, i'm y/n grey-shepherd, it's my first day here" you politely introduce
"ah yes welcome y/n! are these your parents?" the receptionist asks
