Prince Abeloni sat in a plush chair behind a polished dark wood desk in the office that had been allotted to him since he had ascended to Crown Prince as a place to manage his new responsibilities. A pile of paperwork sat on his desk to be gone over as even though his father had declared that the next week was to be a holiday where all the kingdom was free from their work such a decree did not apply to the Royal Family as they always had work to be done, but his teal eyes were unfocused as he looked at them, his mind entirely elsewhere.

He couldn't get the memory, or more specifically the curiosity he felt about the handmaiden with the H/C hair out of his mind. His interactions with her at the ball had only further piqued his interest in her person and her past. He replied his memories from the previous night at the ball over and over in his head.

The memories of his coronation at the temple passing by in a blur, along with the pleasant but painfully dull conversations with the guests at the ceremony along with those well-wishers at the ball. The main focus being his brief interaction with H/C haired handmaiden. He reviewed those memories, paying attention to the smallest of details. The sent of the sea air and the lack of any heavy perfume on her body, the crimson dress that nearly had him mistake her for a noblewoman upon first glance, the unusual black gloves that added to her mysterious aura, and her eyes; oh her E/C eyes had glimmered like jewels with the light of the setting sun in them.

He had spoken to hear, for the first time all evening truly excited by the person who he was talking to. Her answers had been perfectly curt and polite and were easily the most scripted out of all the people he talked to throughout the day. Far from being dull and tiresome though, he easily found her company to be the most entertaining and exciting of all.

In order to extend their conversation as long as he could, he had asked Y/N to dance with him, leaning into his title as the Crown Prince more than he was fond of to get her to agree to dance with him. Once they reached the ballroom floor he had decided to use a more complex dance step in hopes of Y/N tripping up so that he could comfort her and offer to teach her, giving him more opportunity to get close enough to her to learn about her past, but he was surprised to find that she actually fell seamlessly into the dance that she should have had no way of knowing.

He had watched her for several minutes, enraptured by the paradox of it all. He had made small talk but had barely paid attention to the words he was saying. His focus entirely on her graceful movements and the soft feeling of her gloved hands against his bare skin. She didn't look up at him once, not even when he had told her to just call him by his first name, something that still brought a sting to his heart.

Once he was assured that it was not luck but skill that had enabled her to dance the double-step he had brought it up to her, only for her to quickly excuse herself and flee his presence before he could get even the slightest answer. He had tried to follow her, but quickly got swept up in the adoring crowd and was unable to follow. He had spent the rest of the evening absent-mindedly conversing with the guests at the party, his real focus on the mystery of the H/C haired maiden.

Crown Prince Abeloni leaned his plush chair back, so that he could breathe in the fresh sea air from the tall windows behind him that overlooked the ocean, running his fingers through his long chocolate brown curls as he felt the warm sun against his fair skin. These memories were consuming him, encroaching in on his mind even as he slept, no matter what he did or what hour of the day it was.

He could recognize that his overwhelming curiosity about her that had only seemed to grow was becoming a problem, but what could he do? The paradox of who she was was far too exhilarating of a puzzle for him to simply abandon it. His life had been entirely dull and tedious before the day he met her, sure he was afforded every luxury as the Prince but with all of his studies and responsibilities he felt as though everything about his life had been planned out since the day he was born and that his life was more of just playing a role that he had already been assigned than actually living his life.

Then Y/N had appeared and he was at once taken in by her mystery. She was someone who he wasn't scheduled to meet mouths in advance, someone who he couldn't read extensive files on before he had even laid eyes on her for the first time, a relationship with someone that was entirely his own however rocky it was.

He felt himself growing so excited from just thinking about it that he couldn't help but spring up from his chair and begin to pace energetically around the extravagant office, his mind racing as it recalled all the contradictions in her existence. She was bold enough to defy Dembocc Arllo for the sake of a slave but was timider than a mouse around him no matter how relaxed he was, she knew etiquette to a level that no one so new to the palace should know but denied having any interesting past, and she shared the name of his mother the Queen.

He stopped his pacing and stared out the tall glassless windows that overlooked the glimmering blue waters of the ocean. His head pounded as he thought over all of the contradictions. He felt as though the answer for how all these paradoxes could be embedded in one person was right in front of him, but he just couldn't see it. He would though, he would satisfy his curiosity for Y/N no matter what.

He rang the bell for his attendant and several minutes later a disgruntled and half-dressed manservant came bursting through the door. "Y-Yes, what do you need your Highness?" He asked, trying his best to sound like he wasn't disappointed that his day off had been interrupted.

"I want you to learn everything you can about Lady Cascia's handmaiden named Y/N," Abeloni told him as he gazed out at the crystal waters of the expansive ocean that lay to the East. "I want to know everything about her from the moment she walked through the front gates of the palace grounds and even her life before that, but be discreet."

A/N

Ooooo! Looks like the base for Abeloni's eventual yandere has been set. ^~^

Until next time I'll see you on the other side
