Sorano released an ear-piercing roar of victory as she stood over the burnt body of the decaying curse. Finally, she had caught up with it and pinned it to the ground with her long claws. She took her time in killing it, giving in to her selfish desire to see it suffer as she did that day.

As soon as her rush of the thrill was over, she became unnaturally happy, excited to see Ryomen. She waited for this moment for weeks. She thought of writing a letter and sending a raven to tell him of her coming...but she decided that surprising him would be a better present.

With a flap of her mighty wings, she took off into the sky. This way would be faster, and maybe she could show him her new ability.

Nothing but positivity filled her being. She doesn't remember a time she ever been this happy. It was a pleasant feeling. Imagining how he would act about her return. Wondering if he would jump in her arms and allow her to hold him as she did when he was a small child.

She soared through the sky, heading west to the village. If on foot, it would have taken her a couple of days. But by air, it nearly took her only an hour, if not less. Everything was so different in the sky. She could see more of the surrounding landscapes. She loved it and couldn't wait to share it with her beloved ryomen.

Once a familiar mountain reached her view, she flapped her wings two powerful times to reach there faster. Speeding towards the lone mountain. But then her snout crinkled...ash, smoke and...death filled her senses. Why? Unless...

Her heart raced at the very thought. She wasted no time reaching her limit of speed to reach the village faster as soon as she passed the mountain, allowing her to get a view of what was supposed to be a village. She stopped in midair at sight. The town was no longer there...nothing but piles of ashes.

"RYOMEN" She screeched out, rushing down towards the burnt graveyard.

She landed in what used to be the town's center, twisting her head in every direction. Trying to pick up the boy's scent. But all she could smell was the burnt flesh of the people and wood.

How did this happen? She left her cursed mark on this village as long as she was alive. The mark should have worked, allowing no curses to enter, even on the most powerful of curses. She would have sensed the danger. How did this happen!?

Sorano slowly walked towards Ms. Wu's destroyed home. Like the other buildings. It was completely burnt down along with the body of Ms. Wu outside. But luckily, she did not die of the hands of fire or curses.

Her hands were placed on a dagger that was plunged into her chest. A small smile placed on her cold lips. She had taken her own life before the curses could. Happy that she didn't have to face the terror. How pitiful Sorano was...she swore to protect these people.

"I'm sorry, Ms. Wu...I have failed once again. At least you are in a better place now..."

Sorano bowed her large head in respect. She would bury her old friend later. She must find Ryomen.
