I woke up feeling ticklish. Something soft kept touching me and I finally blinked my eyes open. When I looked down I saw it was Josiah. He was on top of me and between my legs. He had been softly kissing every bruise and cut he made from the other night.

"Good morning." he smiled and kept going.
"Good morning." I replied.
"How did you sleep?" he asked. He took his lips off of my body.
"Fine."
"I think we should do somethin' today if you aren't still hurting."
"I'm okay, what should we do?" I asked and sat up.
"I don't know but I'm bored. So go get ready."

We were in the car and Jo was speeding off in a different direction than usual.

"Do you know where we're going?" I asked.
"Nope."

He continued his drive and we were on an empty road. There was nothing but trees on either side of us. He rolled his window down and stood up. I watched in surprise as he hung his head out and he drove.

I'm pretty sure that's dangerous.

"Josiah, you're going to hurt yourself!"
"I'll be fine!"

We'd been on the empty road for around 10 minutes but finally saw someone coming from the opposite direction.

"Josi, put your head back into the car!"
"It's fine!" he shouted.
As the car grew closer I noticed something on top of it.
"Jo..." I called.

Sirens started blaring as the car got closer and lights were flashing.

"Shit..." I heard him mumble. The car passed us up and I turned around and saw. Josiah put his head back into the car, and the car began to make a turn and follow us.

"Fuck!" Josi blurted aggressively and hit the steering wheel.
"What do we do?" I asked.
"Is your seatbelt on?" he asked me.
"Um..." I noticed it wasn't.
"PUT YOUR FUCKIN' SEATBELT ON!" he yelled at me.
I flinched then hurried up and put my seatbelt on like he told me to. After the click of the buckle I felt Josiah speed up the car.

Sirens still blared behind us as he went faster.
"We're fucked." he said under his breath as he looked through the mirror.
"You kind of did what you wanted...you got us in trouble." I stated.
"Yea, that ain't the trouble I meant. This is fucked."
"Are we going back to the ward?" I wondered nervously.
I began to feel sick just at the thought.

He paused before he answered. He used the fingers on his right hand to toy with his lip as he thought while the left drove.

"No...we're not." he said and finally let go of his lip. He slowed the car down and pulled over to the side of the road. In no time the car behind us did too.

Up close it looked like one of the cars that had surrounded my house a couple of years ago.

"You stay here, you hear me?" he demanded.
I nodded.
"You only come out when I tell you to come out."
"Okay." I agreed.

The sirens and lights turned off and Josiah hopped out of the car.
The man in the other vehicle did the same.

I turned around and watched.

"Is there something I can help you with, officer?" Jo asked.
"Well, for one, let's discuss how you had your head hanging out the car like a golden retriever then when I try to pull you over for a nice quick chat, you decide to haul ass and go forty over the speed limit!" The man in the beige outfit shouted.

"Listen, man, can we discuss this like rational human bein's?" Jo offered with his hands in the air.
"Nobody told you to step out of the car, kid. Is someone else in there?" The man asked.

I faced back forward quickly and sunk into my seat.

"No." Jo lied.

"License and registration." said the officer.
"Ah. See, I hate to break it to you, but...I can't do that." Jo responded.
"Why can't ya?"
I looked back at them.
I could hear Jo click his tongue. "Don't have it." He shrugged.
I faced forward.
"I beg your pardon?" The man asked but mildly aggressive.
"Oh, no, I have the registration obviously. Ain't in my name but I got one. But the license? Like I.D.? Mmmmmmmm...that's tricky. I probably don't even exist so..."
"Hilarious. I'm gonna go grab you registration and then you're comin' with me."

I turned back around to see if he was coming and saw Jo quickly block his path.

"Can't do that either."
The man took a deep breath, "You're starting to get on my nerves, kid." he said.
"And you're startin' to get on mine." Jo replied in a low voice. He had to look down at the man now from how close they were. And the officer was around four or five inches shorter than Josiah if not more than.
"Move out of the way before I move you myself." The man demanded. His hand went to his side as he grabbed onto something.
"Or what? You gonna shoot me, princess?" he asked.

The man hurriedly tried to take whatever it was out of his waistband. But Josi pushed his arm down and punched him in his face.

"You were really gonna shoot me?!" Jo asked in an offended tone. He kicked the man in his knees and he fell to the ground. Jo continued to kick him and stomp in his face.

All I heard was smashing and thumping outside of the car.
Then it finally stopped.

"Hey!" Jo said as he came back to the window.
"Come out here." he demanded. He disappeared again.

I took my seatbelt off and opened the door. I walked around the vehicle to where he stood. And saw Jo was bent down and picking something up.
When he stood up straight he held a gun in his hand.
The man on the ground was twitching and groaning in pain from the trauma Josi had caused him. He looked terrible, bruised, swollen, and bleeding.

"Come here, you ever shoot a gun before?" he asked me.
I walked towards him like he told me to.
"No..." I replied.
"Wanna try?" he smiled and handed it to me.

I grabbed the gun and looked at Josiah. I didn't know what to do with it.
I heard the sound of him sucking his teeth. Then looked at him rolling his eyes. I realized this was another time I'd annoyed him with my ignorance.

Without saying anything he grabbed me by my waist and turned me around to face the man on the ground. I'd apparently been holding the gun upside down. He fixed it then put his hand over mine.

"You see that button right there?" he asked. He was pointing at the tiny lever in the inner corner of the weapon.

He stretched my arm out and down then directed it to the stomach of the man on the ground. Then, with his thumb, he pulled down a second lever on the back of the gun.

"Pull it." he demanded.
I placed my finger in the little hole and pulled the lever back like he told me to.

A loud bang went off and my body shot back quickly.

Josiah chuckled behind me. Then into my ear, in a low voice, he said, "Atta girl. Do it again."
He moved our arms over and the gun now pointed at the man's face.

"Pull, baby." he instructed and I did.
