My darling, and if I cannot have you, no one can.

"You've gotta be fucking kidding me." Aris hissed under her breath.

She made her way over to the table with a trail of heat emitting from her tail, her face flushed red with anger as she felt rage bubbling as hot as fire in her stomach.

"You have two seconds to tell me where the fuck Clay is, and what the hell you're doing here." She snapped, meeting Edward's eyes which were full of pride and amusement.

"Clay had some... business to attend to," he shrugged casually, "but while you're still here, you might as well enjoy your food."

Aris was about to protest, but as if on cue, her stomach rumbled loudly, reminding her that she was in fact very hungry. Plus, it didn't help that the food steaming on the table looked very tempting.

"Fine, but you better tell me what's going on." She grumbled, taking a seat and simultaneously taking a bite of her pasta.

"I was just at the hospital with Carlisle, shadowing him with his patients and what not, when a girl was admitted for a broken ankle. Turns out the girl was Clay's sister, and she couldn't get a hold of him or her parents, so I took it upon myself, like the gentleman I am, to come and get Clay for her, seeing as otherwise she was going to be left there unaccompanied for a while." He explained.

"Bull. Shit." Aris spat, "I'll give you one more fucking chance to tell me the truth yourself Edward, and if you don't, I'll just find it out from my father. I'm sure he'd be more than happy to tell me the truth himself, that being that you were the cause for Clay's sister being admitted to the hospital." Of course this was just a theory, but luckily enough for her, it was entirely on target. Edward's eyes widened, shocked that she had somehow figured that out just from the limited information he had told her.

"How did you-"

"Your eyebrows are slightly raised, your voice raised an eighth of an octave at the end of your sentence, you avoided eye contact, you're leaning slightly away from me, and your breathing became faster. Besides, you're forgetting one thing Edward," she leaned in, eyes boring into his guilty ones that he desperately tried to mask, "I'm not an ignorant, oblivious human. Now I'm going to ask you one more time; what the fuck did you do to Clay's sister?"

He sighed in defeat, slumping back in the chair. He'd never had someone catch onto his lying before, except for members of his family of course. Aris was right, she wasn't a human, and not only that, but she wasn't oblivious either. Vampire's were exceptional liars, being able to control their facial expressions and voices extremely well, and human's just didn't have the enhanced eyesight which allowed them to catch onto the occasional slips made, if there were any. That being said, Edward was used to not having to try very hard when lying, so he wasn't really paying attention to the slips he was making, which Aris had noticed and then mentioned.

"I didn't hurt Clay's sister, per say..." he trailed off, "but rather, I was driving a little carelessly and just happened to cut off her path while she was biking. She fell off trying to make the abrupt stop, which then caused her to break her ankle. I drove her to the hospital, and now she's in Carlisle's hands. Simple case of wrong place wrong time." He explained casually.

Aris's eyes narrowed unbelieving, Edward subconsciously shrinking away under her scrutinizing gaze.

"Tell me what you're thinking." He insisted after several silent minutes of being under Aris's intimidating glare.
