Chapter 10

Maya's POV:
I looked through the TV guide for the 100th time and threw the remote onto the couch.

Ugh! There's literally nothing good on and I have nothing to do.

Annie was down for a nap and Lucas was still working.

I would go visit him but he sounded like he didn't want me to come...

Don't ask me why. Maybe it's just really busy....

I shrugged it off and pulled out my iPhone.

I opened up the app Candy Crush and started fresh on level 1

Yes, I am still addicted to this game. It kills me.

I got to like level 139 but I couldn't pass a certain level and it was so frustrating.

I suddenly heard the doorknob open and shut.

I looked up to see a tired and annoyed Lucas.

"Hey there." I said, shutting my phone off.

"Hey." He muttered.

I followed him to the kitchen and heated up food for him.

The microwave beeped and I set it in front of him.

He gave me a light smile, "thanks."

"You're welcome."

I sat across from him and crossed my hands together, watching him eat.

"So how was work?" I said, a little terrified to ask.

He shrugged, no words spoken.

I decided to say something else. "And um... Why didn't you want me to come see you?"

He stayed silent but then looked up at me. "I don't know. My boss is kinda crazy so..."

I kinda understood what I meant. "Oh what's your boss's name?"

Lucas looked hesitant and then opened his mouth. "Her name is um... Jody?"

"You sound unsure."

"No I'm not her name is Jody, I just forgot."

I crossed my arms. "Interesting."

Suddenly, I heard a wail and assumed Annie was up.

I entered her room and picked her up carefully.

I decided to catch her clothes and got on the changing table.

As i finished clothing her, i said to her. "I wish I knew what was up with your dad."

I carried her out to see Lucas looking for something. "I think I lost my phone..."

"Maybe you left it at work?" I said, trying to help.

Lucas looked like he was trying to remember something. "Oh right yeah I'll go right now."

He was about to grab the keys when I looked at the clock.

It was 5:00 so it was still early.

"Be back soon." I said, giving him a smile.

He returned the smile and the front door shut.

I turned to Annie and said, "time to make dinner."

I swear I remember leaving it on my desk by the employee area.

I hope it's still there.

I walked inside and saw some of my co workers.

I didn't know them too well yet but I knew who they were.

I went to the exact spot I remember where I was last and looked around.

My phone was no where in sight.

I ran my hands through my hair. Where could it possibly have gone?

Missy stared down at black device in her hand.

It was a pretty nice phone.

She pressed the power button and saw his wallpaper was Maya, Lucas and she assumed his daughter.

She scowled as she looked at the little girl.

She then looked at Maya, who looked almost the same since high school.

Missy opened up the phone since Lucas didnt have a password on it.

She found a contract and texted Maya.

She turned her best to make it beileveable.

Hey babe! I'll be home soon.

She sent the text and slid the phone into her pocket.

Driving back to the movie theater where she assumed someone certain was looking for their phone.
