Chapter 20

Lucas's POV:
I had a dream last night.

The dream was about Maya telling me she didn't wanna marry me.

...oh wait that wasn't a dream. It was reality.

I rolled out of bed the next morning to see the other half empty.

Maya hasn't been in the same room with me since yesterday.

She would barely even speak to me.

I walked out of my room and into the kitchen to see the usual scene.

Maya feeding Annie and Annie attempting to speak to her.

Maya saw me come in and didn't say anything.

"Listen Maya I need answers." I said, walking closer.

I watched as she put a plate in the dishwasher. "Listen Lucas I don't have any answers for you...I'm just confused."

"Why are you confused?" I said.

"I don't know..."

She walked away with Annie in her hands, leaving me alone.

I was now at the mall in the food court with one of my old friends, Farkle.

"So the weddings off?" He asked me.

I shrugged, playing with a straw. "I don't know...it's all confusing."

"That sucks man. You guys are perfect together."

I nodded. "I thought so too."

We both stood up and threw our food away.

We haven't talked in a few months so this was a nice reunion.

As we sat back down, Farkle spoke up. "You know valentines day is coming up. You could do something for her."

I raised my eyebrow. "You know valentines day was three months ago."

Farkle blinked and then facepalmed himself. "Oh crap! No wonder Riley was mad at me then.."

I chuckled and took a sip out of my soda, thinking.

"But her birthday is coming up." I said aloud.

Her birthday was April 19th, which was in a couple weeks.

"Do something then." Farkle said.

I sighed, leaning back. "But it's two weeks away."

Farkle thought about that. "Until then, maybe you can do small gestures for her."

Hmm...maybe I could do that.

We stood up and decided to head out of the mall.

"Thanks buddy I owe you for this...if it works." I paused.

Farkle nodded. "No problem. Talk to you later!"

I headed towards my car and put the keys in, starting the engine.

As I backed out, I noticed a grocery store across the street.

Maybe I should stop and get Maya some flowers.

After all, I do remember her favorite type of flower.
