Chapter 4

We arrived back at the house and talked to Riley a little bit.

After a half hour, Riley had left the house and it was just Lucas and i.

Annie was sleeping peacefully in her bedroom and I sat in the living room reading my book.

Lucas walked out and sat next to me. "You got any plans tonight?"

I shut my book and threw a pillow at him. "Shut up."

"What?!" He said, pushing the pillow off of me.

I chuckled. "Not having another baby yet."

Lucas sat back. "You know me too well."

I nodded. "That's right. And that's why I'm marrying you."

Lucas looked offended. "That's the only reason?"

I rolled my eyes. "No doofus."

Lucas smiled. "Good."

After a few minutes, I heard crying coming from upstairs.

I sighed and stood up. "Annie is already awake."

I went up the stairs and into her bedroom.

I looked into the crib to see her staring up at me. "Well hello."

I picked her up and took her downstairs where the rocking chair was.

I looked in the living room to see Lucas on his cell phone.

He looked worried, reading something off his phone.

"Lucas?" I said, walking towards him with Annie in my arms.

He looked up from his phone and shoved it in his pocket quickly. "Oh hey."

"You okay?" I asked.

He nodded. "Yeah. I'm fine."

Without saying anything else, I sat down in the rocking chair.

After about an hour, Annie finally fell asleep and I put her back in her crib.

"Please sleep all night." I whispered to the sleeping Annie.

I cracked her bedroom door and went to my bedroom to see Lucas on our bed.

He was on his phone. Again.

I know I shouldn't be worried about Lucas on his phone, but I'm concerned.

He saw me and his his phone under the covers.

"Oh hey." He said, just like last time.

I climbed in the covers next to him. "Seriously what are you hiding?"

"Nothing! It's nothing babe, I promise."

I didn't believe him, but I sighed.

Trust was the #1 thing in a relationship.. Might as well use this.
