Chapter 15

Lucas walked into the movie theater and saw some of his co workers.

He handed out some homemade invites Maya had made.

He was hoping and praying he could get out of there soon enough before missy noticed him.

Too late.

She came up behind him, with her usual work uniform on.

"What do you think your doing?" Missy said, crossing her arms.

Lucas was hesitant. "Oh um.. Handing out invites to my daughters first birthday party."

Missy snatched an invite out of his hand and read it.

She rolled her eyes but put a fake smile on her face. "Sorry, but you aren't allowed to just come in here and hand out invites."

"But I work here..."

"But you aren't working right now."

Lucas didn't say anything and Missy let out a sigh. "Fine. I'll let it slide this time."

Lucas nodded and was about to walk away when missy called, "be here at 7 am sharp tomorrow for work."

She walked away towards her office, slipping the invite into her pocket.

The one that she took from Lucas.

Maya's POV:
I finished up the last of the decorations and put them in a box.

I would wait until tomorrow to hang them up.

I went into the living room to see Annie laying in her playpen, staring up at the wall.

"Hey baby." I said, picking her up gently.

She smiled at me and laid her head on my shoulder.

I can't believe I've been a teen parent for almost a year.

The front door opened and Lucas stepped in.

"Hey." He said, putting some invites down on the table.

"Hey. Did you invite people?"

He nodded, sitting on the couch.

"Who?" I asked curiously.

"You'll just have to wait and see." He teased.

"Why?"

He glanced at me. "What's with all the questions, babe? Relax."

I put Annie into the playpen. "I'm sorry."

We sat in silence for a minute until i spoke up, "just one more question?"

"Okay."

"Did you get tomorrow off work?" I asked.

Lucas stood up and suddenly paced the room, "yeah about that... Uh."

I stood up with him. "What is it?"

Lucas scratched the back of his neck. "My boss is making me go to work tomorrow."

I let out a sigh. "What about Annie's party tomorrow?"

Lucas came closer to me. "I wouldn't miss it for anything."

I smiled at him. "Okay."

I got out my cell phone and started texting Riley.

Maya: Heyo

Riley: hey!

Maya: u coming tomorrow?

Riley: of course! But Farkle can't make it.

Maya: aww why?

Riley: bc he has to work.

I let out a sigh, remembering Lucas had to work tomorrow.

Maya: same with Lucas :/

Riley: aw really. Where does he work?

Maya: movie theater.

Riley: wait.. Which one?

Maya: harkins movie theater a few miles away.. Why?

Riley: ......
