Chapter 22

Third Person POV:
A few hours, Lucas was sitting in the living room by himself.

He thinks that him and Maya had a moment earlier, but now they aren't talking again.

Great.

Lucas was standing up to go to the kitchen when he heard footsteps.

It was Maya, holding Annie in her hands.

She was wearing heels, which made her slightly taller.

"I need you to watch Annie for me." She said.

Maya handed Annie over to Lucas and Lucas nodded. "Okay."

Maya grabbed her keys. "I'm going to the store. I'll be right back."

Lucas nodded again, not knowing what else to say.

Maya disappeared out the front door, not saying anything else.

Lucas glanced at Annie, who looked back up with her big brown eyes.

He walked over to the couch and sat down.

He sat Annie on his lap and sighed.

"Why won't she talk to me?" He asked aloud.

Annie just made little baby noises and Lucas smiled.

He reached over for the tv remote and started flipping through channels.

He will have to try talking to her later...again.

-two hours later-
Lucas was still sitting in the same spot as two hours before.

He had gotten up a few times to get Annie food.

Now Annie was playing in her play pin.

Lucas looked at the clock from his phone. 5:00

Where was maya?

Usually she was done shopping by now.

Lucas shrugged it off, since she was probably doing some extra shopping.

Lucas heard a loud noise come from the play pin and he stood up.

He walked over to Annie to see her standing in her crib.

Lucas smiled and picked her up.

"Maybe we should try walking again?" He questioned.

The home phone suddenly rang and Lucas put Annie back in the crib.

"Hang on one second." He said.

He went over and picked up the phone. "Hello?"

"Hello? Is this Lucas friar?" An unfamiliar voice said.

"Uhh yeah." Lucas said awkwardly.

"Maya hart is your wife, correct?"

"We are engaged...who are you?"

"I'm nancy. I'm calling you from the hospital. I think you should get here fast."

Lucas was confused. "What why?"

Nancy let out a loud sigh. "Sir, do I really need to explain? Your wife is in the hospital."

Lucas felt his heart suddenly drop and his mind full with questions.

"WHAT?!"

Before Nancy could respond, he said quickly, "I'll be right there!"

He nearly dropped the phone and rushed over to Annie.

He grabbed her and his keys, and went to the garage.

Thank goodness they had a extra car seat for Annie.

He buckled Annie in and got into his seat.

He started driving, as quick as he could go for the speed limit.

He felt a big achy feeling in his stomach.

Something happened to Maya.
