Chapter 18

Everybody had left the party after a hour and I was cleaning up.

Missy's words couldn't get out of my head from earlier.

Was she joking?

Riley and Kira stayed to clean up but had to leave.

I was alone now cleaning up the house while Lucas sat in the kitchen.

I don't know... I was feeling extra annoyed by him today.

"Aren't you gonna help?" I said harshly.

He looked up from his phone, confused. "What?"

"Nevermind." I mumbled, picking up trash from the floor.

I finished cleaning and went over to the playpen where Annie sat.

I picked her up. "How was your party Annie?"

She didn't say anything, just laying her head on my shoulder, staring out into space.

She must've been tired since she missed her nap today.

I went to her bedroom and set her gently in her crib.

I headed back into the kitchen, ignoring Lucas.

I got out some food and heated it up in the microwave.

I waited in silence until Lucas spoke up.

"Okay what's up with you?" He said from behind me.

I turned around. "What's up with me? What's up with you Lucas?"

"What are you talking about?"

I sighed. "I know you kissed missy. She told me."

His facial expression changed and he stayed silent.

"I can't believe you lied to me." I said quietly.

The microwave beeped but I stayed looking at Lucas.

"How did I lie to you?" He asked.

"You said you were out with co workers when you were really out with missy."

I opened the microwave to get my food out.

I started walking out of the kitchen.

"Maya wait---"

I turned around slightly. "What?"

"This might be a bad time to tell you..." He said, scratching his neck.

I sighed again. "Lucas just tell me. I don't have time for this."

He took a deep breath. "I set the wedding date.."

I blinked and slowly spoke. "To when exactly?"

"Two weeks."

This is only chapter 18 so we are alright.
