"Pero eso es solo lo que yo entiendo del libro, que si la joven Luciana no hubiera sido amenazada por su tío Santiago, hasta el punto de abusar de ella de todas las formas posibles, ella no lo habría asesinado." I explained.

(But that's just my understanding of the story, that if young Luciana weren't threatened by her uncle Santiago, to the point where he was abusing her in all possible ways, she wouldn't have murdered him.)

"Why'd she--" Emily with the big glasses and black long curly hair, tried to ask a question but Mrs García cut her off.

"Spanish!" Mrs García reminded her.

Emily rolled her eyes then stood up before talking again. In Spanish this time. "¿Por qué tenía que matarlo? Podría haberse escapado o hablar con la policía, ¡no tenía que matar al hombre!"

(Why did she have to kill him? She could have ran away or talk to the police, she didn't have to kill the man!)

The rest of the class started agreeing with what Emily had said, making my head ache with the noise and the questions, every vein and artery in my body which my blood flowed through making me feel more and more guilty.

"¡Sí, nos dice! Luciana no es la víctima aquí, es tan mala como su tío, ¡las medidas que tomó fueron muy innecesarias y tontas!" Mateo, our calculus hottie from the back of the class exclaimed, frustration in his tone.

(Yeah tell us?! Luciana is not the victim here, she's just as bad as her uncle, the measures she took were very unnecessary and dumb!)

I glanced at Mrs García and saw her smiling, a box of chocolate in her hands. She enjoyed this. This was her revenge on me for handing my assignments late in for the past two weeks. I took a deep breath then spoke.

"¡Lo hizo porque amaba los plátanos pero odiaba a los monos! ¡Bayas! ¡Palomitas de maíz veganas!"

(She did it because she loved bananas but hated monkeys! Berries! Vegan popcorn!)

Wait what? No! I would never say that! I opened my eyes saw weird boy standing beside me. His expression calm and confident. What an idiot, I thought to myself.

Mrs García bursted out laughing along with the rest of the class. Weird boy turned to me and raised his eyebrows in confusion. I really needed a name for him. 'Weird boy' was beginning to sound very weird in my head.

"Was it something I said?" He asked , scratching the back of his neck nervously.

Ya think?

I sighed and shook my head in disbelief, the class still laughing, some held themselves on the ground, others wiping their tears. Mrs García hitting her table with her fists as she laughed hysterically.

"Hit me." I told him with gritted teeth.

"Yeah, not gonna happen!" He folded his arms across his chest.

"I said, hit me!" I told him again.

"Nah." He shook his head.

"Do you want to pass your first assignment or not?" I asked him.

"Yeah of course I do, but why do I have to hit you? Why can't I just kiss you? Yes, let me kiss you!" He exclaimed with a smirk, walking closer towards me.

Ah, clever tiger!

"I don't want to kiss you!" I yelled at him, making a scene.

"Oh come on! Just one little kiss!" He begged.
