"That was so fucking close!" Roxy exclaimed nervously, referring to the cop we had just run from.

"Mhm." I agreed, before climbing off the bike and handing her helmet.

"I'm really sorry about your stepfather." She pitied me.

"Oh it's cool, mom and Adam were only married for a month anyways, he's nothing to me or Noah."

It was the truth. I didn't care about him, neither did Noah or mom.

Roxy looked down awkwardly and bit her bottom lip.

I knew that she felt guilty because of what she did but little did she know that things were exactly as they planned. Adam and his men would have been murdered anyway.

"Anyways I got some homework to complete. I'll see you when I see you." I lied, trying to get rid of her.

"Oh yeah sorry, um see you tomorrow!" She greeted nervously before starting her motorbike's ignition.

She looks over her shoulder at me again and smiled. "Thank you for tonight, I haven't felt so alive in ages."

I nodded and smiled back at her in response.

"Put on your helmet and be safe." I told her and she nodded before driving away.

I had a guilty conscience for what I was about to do to but at the same time it felt right, like I'd feel better once it was done.

After she had disappeared into the dark, I pulled up my phone from my pocket and called Luke. Luke Trevor.

"Yeah, she just left. She'll be driving through Wall Street route to get home." I informed him then hung up.

I lit a cigarette and took a deep puff from it as I walked into the house, turning on the lights and locking the door behind me. I walked up the stairs and into to my room then changed into a new shirt and walked out to the balcony to finish my cigarette.

Once I was done, I walked back inside and threw myself onto my bed, sitting up against the headboard as I played with my lighter, thoughts entering my mind.

She couldn't even answer me when I asked her why she had stopped visiting me. I've known Roxy ever since she moved here with her family. We were really close, we would hang together almost all the time, before school, during school, after school, all week and even on weekends. Then halfway through tenth grade she got distant, started getting into fights and having a change in her attitude. She had become this bad girl, started driving motorbike and wearing all black. She would walk through the halls alone and whenever she'd see me, she'd roll her eyes or push me around.

It seemed as if though she hated me. But not just me. The world too.

I got insecure, thought that maybe if I became like her, she'd be my friend again. I started smoking, drinking, changed my style and got tattoos, piercings too, even started dating some hot girls, whatever I could to get her attention but still, she'd push me away. And then tonight?! She wanted to kiss me! Unbelievable.

It wasn't a in the moment kind of thing.

She seemed desperate, alone, and somehow broken.

I didn't risk it. I couldn't risk everything for Roxy, not again, I refused.

My door knob turned and then my door opened slowly as mom walked in, a big smile on her face.

"Any tragic news?" I asked sarcastically, not making contact as I continued playing with my lighter.
