I hated hospitals. I hated vaccines and check ups. I hated it when people stared, even more when they cared.

Troy cleared his throat before talking. "So... the doctor mentioned something about tests--"

"Oh, they just checked my blood and said that I should start a diet, maybe try to do some exercise." I interrupted him. "To prevent any diseases." I quickly added.

"Diseases?" He questioned.

"Yeah. Just to be safe." I explained and he exhaled deeply in relief.

I told him the truth just not the whole truth. I wasn't certain myself yet so, I couldn't assume anything either.

We lied in silence for a bit longer, my head rested on his chest while his fingers trailed up and down my right arm. And in that moment nothing else mattered.

Then his phone alarm went off. We sighed tiredly in sync.

It was spring break and as much as we both just wanted to spend time together. The bills had to be paid. Troy found a good part time job as a warehouse worker. He refused to work for his father. He didn't want me to help out either. He said I should just leave it all to him.

I hated it. Feeling useless. Feeling like a burden. Like the way I did when I lived with mom.

"Noooo, just two more minutes." I pushed my bottom lip out at him, holding him tighter.

He chuckled. "Anything for you, dream girl."

I smiled softly and he kissed me gently on my forehead. "I love you." He whispered.

"I love you too." I whispered back, sitting up slightly to look deeply into his Hazel eyes.

He sat up too and moved in closer towards me, kissing me on the lips then he stopped to talk. "I didn't believe in fairytales at first but then I met you. You're my happy ever after." He said sweetly, caressing my cheek gently. "And I can't wait to spend forever with you." He added.

I swallowed hard but then quickly smiled again. "Me too."

After Troy had left for work, I cleaned up the apartment and had some grapes for breakfast.

I paced up and down in the apartment. Bored out of my mind. I needed to box again but after I had missed the tournament, would coach even want to see me again? I left him hanging. I disappointed him.

Nina had asked me to come over today. She said she needed help with some boxes that needed to be unpacked.

I got dressed into a dark blue wide legged jeans and a black crop shirt and a pair of vans. I left my hair down and grabbed some shades then left the apartment.

I was three months away from graduation and I've definitely been thinking about universities but after everything that's been taken from me, I didn't even know who I was or what I liked. Troy however mentioned Juilliard school, he liked music. The tuition was a hell of a lot of money and getting in was hard too.

I inhaled deeply before knocking on the front door of Nina's house. I took a step back and waited a bit.

Eventually someone opened the door. "Good afternoon Mr. Jones." I greeted him, her father.
