Chapter 22: Be strong

It was tiffin time in school. Bondita was much heartbroken by the incident. She sat on the stairs and looked at the other boys playing beneath the tree. Batuk came to her.
"Chalo na boudi khelte hain..."
"Mera man nehi kar raha Batuk ... tum jao..."
"R a boudi chalo na..." Batuk trued to cheer her up and took her near the tree

"R a Batuk apne boudi ko le aya!"
"Ha boudi bhi to khelegi na humare sath..."
"R a keya bolta hain Batuk teri BOUDI humare sath... koi tulna bhi hain keya uski aur humari..."

"Keu main tum logo ko insan nehi dikhti?" protested Bondita
"Humain tum ek larki dekhti ho jo sindoor pati in sab ke piche para rehti hain... aur rahe keu nehi.. mere baba kehte hain aurat ka stan rasoi aur lati ki seba karna hi hoti hain... keya karogi padhai karke??"

"Main barrister banungi..."

The other boys started laughing out loud...

"Main Barrister banungi " shouted Bondita

The boys laughed more loudly

Bondita ran away ftom the place crying.

Batuk ran behind her
"Boudi aap..."
"Maine kaha tha na Batuk mat le jao mujhe..."

"Bondita " a boy in specs came from behind "unki baat pe bura na mano... aise hi hain woh log... tum kitni acchi ho padhai main. ... tum barrister jarur banogi..."

Bondita smiled..

Batuk and that boy made her sit on the stairs and sat beside her
"Malum hain tumhe Bondita meri ek didi Medical College main padhti hain... woh doctor banegi... agar woh doctor ban sakti hain yo tum barrister keu nehi??"

"Sach keh rahe ho Raghav??" Exclaimed Bondita

"Ha ekdam... agar tum main will power ho to tum desh ki rani bhi ban sakti ho..."

Bondita felt inspired by Raghav's words...

"Yeehhh Raghav " called a fat boy "ish larki ke sath keya kar raha hain..."
"Baat kar raha hu ... dikhai nehi de raha.."
"Accha baat kar rahe ho...." the boy came to beat him..
Batuk stopped
"Yeehh yeh keya kar rahe ho .... meri boudi ka apman main nehi sehna wala samjhe...."

The fat boy gave a angry glance at them and left..

"Bondita Avinav jalta hain tumse... khud kabhi acche marks nehi la pata per jo acche marks lata hain unko tang karta hain... upar se tum to larki ho isliye. .."

"Per larke larki ek nehi hote keya... sabke paas hi to durga ma ne dimag diya hain na... to sirf larkiya hi piche keu rahe??... larkiya age bare to inhe dikkat keu hoti hain??"

"Yeh baat kaun kise samjhaye Bondita.. jo apna hukumat chalana chahate hain woh jar jabardasti hi chalayenge... unko samjhama bekar hain... keuki woh kabhi shamajna chahate hi nehi...."

Bondita was immersed in deep thought...

It was 11pm at night. Bondita didn't have sleep in her eyes. She went to the study room and started browsing though different books there.
The phone rang..
Bondita looked here and there and then went to pick up the phone.
"Helloo.. kisko chahate hain aap?"

"Haluuu" Anirudh's smiling tone came from the other side
Bondita's heart was filled with joy
"Patibabuu"
"Ha Bondita... kaisi ho tum?? Thick to ho na? Tabiyat thick hain na tumhari? ?"
Bondita looked at her red trembling hands. It hurts.
"Ha patibabu main bilkul thick hu... aap kaise hain? Khaya hain apne?"
"Ha Bondita. .. pta hain yaha sab log bohat acche hain... bikul parivar ka apna mante hain yehlog mujhe.."
Bondita smiled
"Accha Bondita padhai kaisi chal rahi hain... school ja rahi ho na.. kuch samasya to nehi?"
Bondita recalled the school incident. Her heart became heavy. She struggled to hold back her tears.
"Nehi patibabu thick hain sab..."
"Tumhari awaj... sach bolo Bondita koi samasya to nehi??"
"Nehi laha na patibabu"
"Bondita" scolded Anirudh
"Nehi matlab woh bohat classes miss hua na isliyee...."
"Som padha nehi raha?"
"Ha Somu dada padha rahe hain per ... samai lageha na..."
"Ha woh to hain... suno jada panicked mat hona.. dhire se likhna.. haat per jor na lahana.. dawai thick samai pe lahana aur ghar ka kaam bilkul nehi.. samjhi?"
"Ha patibabu... aur suniye.."
"Bolo Bondita"
"Aap kab lautenge? "
"Jaldi hi.... tum apna kaam dheyan se karna.. acche se padhai karna kamon.."

Time passes by...

In Calcutta Anirudh followed Barrister Banerjee's instructions and gradually gained much experience. Banerjee gives him charge of some hearings and so far he has executed them all very perfectly.
He calls Bondita at night. 11 pm is their time to talk. Bondita never told him the problems she is having in school. She just don't want to give additional tension to Anirudh. Anirudh really didn't get any time to go to Tulsipur. On weekends and at night he reads books on Indian and Bengal history and about philosophy of Swami Vivekananda and Sri Ram krishna.

Bondita waits for him.. everytime she asks Anirudh when will he come the answer came "jaldi hi aunga.. dheyan se padhai karna..". Avinav's taunting is really crossing limits. But Bondita is a strong girl. She just didn't bother. She only felt bad because Raghav has also to endure the taunts just to befriend with her.

But Avinav wasn't a boy just to taunt. He wants supremacy of his words over others.....
