On school everything was normal again. Varsha and Noah came out as a couple and Christina and Rei, too. Apparently Varsha was shocked about someone returning her feelings so she needed time to process that. Christina had a moment of internalised homophobia and acted mean towards Rei in hope for her feelings to disappear. Everyone has talked it out and now they were in a relationship
So you might be thinking everyone is in a relationship now, right?
Well yeah, but no. Now Natalie started to be distant to me. But why?
"Hey," I said to Natalie when we all sat down in the cafeteria. She just hummed and continued avoiding eye contact.
I looked at Christina who noticed everything and she just shrugged and rolled her eyes as if it were all my fault.
But what did I do?
When everyone started eating and being loud, I tried again and nudged Natalie. "What's wrong?"
Natalie sighed and stood up.
She said "You should know what's up." Before going away and sitting next to Noah.
Everyone looked confused at her before Varsha said "... Uhm- anyways, so-"
I was even more confused. Why was Natalie acting like this?
For the rest of the day, Natalie ignored me and I could hear my heart crack every moment. When I got home I started to immediately freak out.
"No no no no no Natalie can't be mad at me!" I panicked and ran to the kitchen.
"SHE ISN'T MAD AT ME! SHE'S NEVER MAD AT ME! SHE CAN'T BE MAD AT ME, SHE-"
"MILEY, STOP SCREAMING!" My dad scolded from the dining room.
"DAD, NATALIE IS MAD AT ME!" I screamed while running to the dining room. I could feel tears threatening to fall. It's never nice when your old childhood friend is mad at you and you don't know the reason.
"So? Is that my problem? Stop screaming and fix it!" My dad said.
I groaned, "You're never good for anything!"
My dad didn't react and continued reading the newspaper while drinking tea.
I sighed and picked my phone and sat down next to my dad.
