He had failed him. He had failed his father, his brother and the family name... well, that's what Micheal Faust told his sixteen year old son.

Whenever Kai "screwed" up a mission he got a punishment he'd like to call: stop, drop and ditch where he'd be left at the closest town with supernatural activity for a month or so until his father could be bothered to come back.

As the car pulled up to a little diner, out came Kai who grabbed his stuff hastily and slammed the car door shut before strutting towards the window of the backseat then crouching down beside it

"Do you have to leave?" A young Cole Faust frowned at Kai , twirling his thumbs around together anxiously

Kai was silent until he answered moments later "hey, it's only for month or two, I gotta kick ass, right?"

"Why can't I come with you? I'll be useful, I promise I will" the eleven year old pleaded with his older brother, praying he'd let him come with him

Kai would love to have Cole with him but their father would never allow it which made absolutely zero sense to Kai since he was the one who practically raised Cole anyway.

"C'mon, coley! Dad's taking you on a case, he needs you, not me, you. Isn't that great? Presides I get to have a break from your dorky ass anyway" he reassured him but Cole wasn't convinced

The engine roared- their dad was growing impatient. Kai rolled his eyes and ruffled Cole's already messy hair, he then started walking up to the diner "stay out of trouble!" He called out before the car sped away down the road, taking Cole with it.

Once entering the little burger joint, Kai felt his stomach rumble and his mouth water from the sight and sent of fresh food. He only just realised he hadn't eaten yet since he gave the last breakfast bar he had to Cole.

He'd probably order something but he also had to get to work so he could leave the little town and reunite with his brother who definitely wouldn't survive to long without him.

Work or food, food or work.. the decision overwhelmed Kai until he came to the conclusion that he could just do both.

He sat down in a booth by himself and scanned through the menu but he already knew what he wanted so he just threw it back on the table and that's when she came up to him, her auburn curls bouncing up and down as she moved.

His eyes immediately flickered towards her, his lips quirked up into a smirk as she greeted him "good evening, welcome to franks diner, what can I get ya?"

"Burger and fries.. oh! And a chocolate milkshake too" answered Kai on the brink of starvation, after writing it down she nodded, then walked away from him to fetch his order.

Kai thought this was the time to get out his journal and his laptop to do some research: this was the boring part.

When his food had finally arrived he assumed the monster he was hunting was an angry spirit  but he couldn't be too sure so he decided to ask the waitress from earlier some questions.

He welcomed her into his booth and popped a few fries in his mouth until he finally spoke "you noticed anything weird around here? Odd smells? Cold spots?"
