Denki POV

"Denki come here."

I jump as I leave the bathroom when the unexpected voice calls to me. Kanpeki is sitting in my desk chair looking..., well I don't know what that expression is but it's not his normal pretentious one.

"I thought I told you to get lost."

"Is he okay?"

"No thanks to you."

"Sorry."

I sigh because I know that's not all of what he wants to say. Every second I'm near him my blood boils.

"What do you want Kanpeki."

"Are you two, are you being safe?"

"What?"

He looks at me with a pained sort of look. Like he doesn't want to be here any more than I do.

"When you have sex, do you use condoms."

"What! Who said anything about sex?" I respond almost choking over my own words.

"Denki, you two were pretty close," he explains and I can tell that he is stopping himself from pointing out the fact that Hitoshi had no pants on.

"Well we're not having sex so don't worry about it. And get out."

"Denki w-."

He's cut off when the bathroom door slides open and reveals Hitoshi. Though remembering he's here calms me, his face still looks on edge.

"Oh, uhm, hello."

He waves to my brother looking as startled as I was when I first realized he was still down here.

"Sorry if I scared you," Kanpeki walks over to Toshi, "I'm Kanpeki, Denki's older brother."

"Nice to meet you."

"You too."

It seems to calm Denki down, at least a little, to see my brother isn't an insane monster. But he also doesn't have to live with him.

"Well I'll leave you two alone, I can feel my brother staring daggers at me as we speak."

He waves to Toshi and moves towards the stairs and I follow him.

"Kanpeki wait," I say as he starts to ascend the stairs.

He turned around and now has his usual face plastered on. The one that always looked like it was poised to smile wide.

"Yea?"

"Don't tell mom."

Usually when I talk to my siblings I have no problem asserting myself, but I can't help but avert my gaze from Kanpeki in this moment. What if he tells her? She'll definitely kick me out. She's just looking for a resin to disown me.

"I won't."

He smiles at me and then finishes going up the stairs. Once I see him close the door I go back into my room and sit on my bed. When I do so Hitoshi joins me. We both sit with our legs hanging off the side just looking ahead at the wall.

"Are you ok?" I ask him, not taking my gaze off the wall.

"Yes."

His response is followed by silence that I don't fill. Maybe it's because I'm tired or maybe it's because I don't quite know what to say to him. Maybe it's because the only thing I can think of is whether or not Kanpeki will keep Toshi and I a secret.

"Are we okay?" Toshi asks after minutes of pure silence.

"What?"

"Are we okay?" He repeats.

"Of course we are."

"Okay."

I see him scratching the back of his head and know he's getting anxious.

"Toshi," I put a hand on his knee, "what's wrong?"

He goes to speak but I interrupt him.

"Remember, just speak your mind."

"I feel like, you're embarrassed of me. I mean, it's okay, I don't mind of you want to be alone I just-," He starts to ramble and I stop him.

"I'm not embarrassed of you. I'm just not out to my family yet."

"Oh," he responds still focused on the wall.

"If it makes you feel more comfortable I can. I just didn't think it'd be good to spring it on them while you're here. I don't know they'd take it that well and I don't want them to take it out on your or anything."

"No it's ok. I get it."

"Toshi seriously, are you okay?"

"Yes," he says looking at me with I little smile.

It's a sweet one. A genuine one. I trust that he's okay and that if he's not that he would tell me.

"Dinner!" My mom calls from upstairs.

I can hear my sisters stampede down the main staircase all the way from the basement. They sound like an entire army. Sometimes I wonder why I'm the least favorite.

Toshi and I make our way upstairs and the table is already set with the food and drinks already set up in front of each chair. I pull out the chair I typically sit in for Toshi and then sit where Kanpeki usually does. Kihito and Taiyo are already seated across from me looking anxious to start eating and like usual Kanpeki and my dad are the last ones to be seated. Kanpeki sits on the same side as the twins and dad at the opposite head of the table Mom is sitting at.

"Go ahead and dig in everyone."
