This is a retelling of when a friend of mine came out to us in class, once again has this person's consent to rewrite it to this headcanon. It is a very short one, mostly because the situation was not so dramatic.

And I chose Nyx for this one because I unknowingly repeatedly in other writing projects wrote "they" and "them" when I wrote about Nyx.

____

It had taken Nyx almost over a year to find a name, a name that they was comfortable with. Them, they, not him, he, as they had been called for so long. And time and time again they had flinched over that name. It had felt wrong, and it gave them a identity that they was not comfortable with. And then, Gwyn had mentioned this one book, a new one that gathered information about fae of different sexuality and Identity. And there it was. A name and description that Nyx recognised and related to. They, them.

They had left there room and felt so light, so freed by knowing what to call themself. A label that was right for them.

Nyx just needed to tell there parents, asking them to respect there wishes. Nyx entered the room there Feyre and Rhys was, not even nervus about the thing they needed to say.

"Mom, dad." They started, getting there attention.

"Yes Nyx?" Feyre said back, looking over to them.

"I... I don't feal comfortable being called him." Nyx just said it, and sat down. "I have just not know what to call myself or why, but now I know. And it is they and them, not him he. And I understand that it will make it hard to doing this beyond our home, but if we can always just do it with in these walls I am okey with that."

"Nyx." There mother started. "This..." Nyx felt how dought started grow in there stomach.

"This is big." There father continued. "Here, in Velaris, and in some courts, it will be easy to change it. My... Child, I am proud of you. For standing there and telling us this."

"I know that some places will not be so easily convinced, and that it might become a problem later. And if this only stays here, that is what matters." Nyx continued on. "All that matters for me is that you, my family is using the right words."

"And we will, all of us." There mother came up, hugging them tight. "Here you are safe, and I am happy you have fund this."

"Thanks..." Nyx smiled. Knowing that this was a safe home for them.

_____

This is short  because I did not feel comfortable filling out the story so much, this is a person's own experience applied to these characters. But one day I want to feel that I have enough knowledge to write a longer one about Nyx as a non-binary.

Will probably not happen in the books. But I like the idea! What do you think?
