"Jesus Christ, kid, you look like shit."

Angelica glared at Coach Ricks, ignoring the way her puffy eyes burned under the sun. She had arrived at 10:30 am like he said to do so and she was not happy at all having to wake up early after staying up late, crying.

"Yeah, I decided I wanted to look like you," she retorted back, causing Coach Ricks wife, Laura, also known as her coach from high school, to chuckle at the two. "Hi, Coach Laura."

"Hey, V," Laura hugged the girl, rubbing her back before pulling away a little, rubbing her arms. "You okay?"

"Could be better," Angelica sniffed, giving her a fake smile before eyeing the bag in the man's hand beside the woman. A teasing smile started stretching on her lips. "Ricks, did you really get me my snacks?"

"Yeah, shut up," Ricks rolled his eyes, passing her the bag. "Don't eat it right now. You need to eat breakfast or something."

"Aw, you are a softy," Angelica dramatically sniffed and the man gave her a glare.

Coach Ricks was a nice man when he wanted to be. He had been there with Laura in volleyball practices and was even the one who told his wife to taken in Angelica into the team. He didn't admit to doing that, though, but Angelica was told by Laura who was laughing the entire time as she retold the story.

Ricks never liked showing any type of emotion and was closed off, but once in a while, a smile would grow on his face when Angelica would do something stupid. The only person he tolerated was his wife, of course.

"The kids are going to be here in 30 minutes," Ricks changed the subject. "In the meantime, I want to have our rematch."

Angelica smiled for the first time in four days.

A rematch. The rematch Ricks had wanted a year ago after he lost to her in a volleyball game. It was pretty amusing seeing him struggle against her hits, the man himself becoming irritated and making her run 7 laps around the auditorium as some type of payback. Angelica could only laugh back then and she still laughed now as she reminisced that day.

"You fucking loser," she cackled, pointing a finger at him. "Imagine losing to me?"

"It was 14-18," Ricks rolled his eyes. "It was close."

"Ha! M'kay. Whatever makes you happy, old man!" Angelica sarcastically laughed, rubbing her puffy eyes before grabbing the volleyball Laura had passed her.

She headed inside the auditorium they were going to practice and sheepishly smiled at Ricks when she hit him with the ball in the back of his head and he had turned around to look at her over his shoulder.
