"Fine! If you don't even seem to bother to tell me and just keep up your egoistic behaviour, then there's no point in sitting here with you!" Y/n yelled at the Beast sitting on the other side of the huge dining table.

Her hand wandered to the white napkin on the girl's lap and angrily grabbed it, finally slamming it on the table. Pushing her chair back, she didn't even dare to look at it anymore and just left the big dining hall which also served as a ballroom. The Beast didn't show any reaction, its yellow eyes were empty.

As she had arrived in her little room all the way up in the castle, y/n slammed her door behind her back and let out a small cry. No, she wasn't being like that because she was angry at the Beast; she was hurt. Its life was slowly withering just like the rose it had kept for ages. When the last rose petal fell, it would die.

Y/n had been staying with it for some weeks now, not voluntarily at first, and it wasn't always a fairy tale. The Beast would lose its temper way too often and ended up fighting with the fragile girl, however,  they would make up again after some time with the help of the other inhabitants of the castle. Those inhabitants weren't humans, no, they were several beings who had been turned into objects like mugs and candleholders because of a curse that had been laid upon the whole castle caused by the prince himself.

The prince as such had been turned into the Beast she had to keep company. There was no way to break the curse, or at least that's what y/n had been told. The Beast never wanted to talk about anything related to the curse.

A knock on the door behind her pulled the girl back to reality.

"Y-yeah." She said and stepped back from the door.

Moments later, the door opened and in it stood the furry brown Beast. It had to bend down to get inside her modest room and not hit the door frame with its small horns because of its height. The Beast's yellow eyes searched for hers without success; she was avoiding its gaze and cleared her throat instead.

"I'm sorry, y/n. I know that what I'm doing is not fair." It said with its deep and raspy voice before she could say anything. This time, it actually sounded like it meant it.

"No" y/n started and finally raised her head to meet its eyes "I think this time I am the one who has to apologise. You weren't the one who lost your temper for once, I was."

Was that a little smile she was seeing on its lips? It was certainly the first time she saw the Beast like this, the girl couldn't help but return the smile.

"I- we..." her voice cracked as it held out its huge hand for hers.

"Will you grant me this dance?"

After hesitating for a moment, she grinned and placed her soft hand in its. They then rushed into the ballroom together, making it seem like they had already forgotten about their argument earlier and all those which had already occurred in the past.

Calm Waltz music started playing as soon as the Beauty and the Beast were standing in the middle of the great hall. Their moves were sharp, yet gracefully adapted to the sound of the piano. They perfectly harmonised while dancing, which showed their true colours, how vulnerable they truly were.

However, some weeks earlier y/n would have been tripping over her own feet while dancing; with a lot of work and sometimes not so much patience, the Beast had taught her how to properly use her body to dance.

The soft music was getting more and more vivid to the girl. All of their movement seemed to happen in slow motion. She couldn't concentrate on dancing anymore, she was only focusing on the Beast who seemed to be completely lost in the music, forgetting about the troubles their life kept. It seemed happy or at least content while it was dancing with her, which was the reason for her own happiness.
