Aya

Throughout the 23 years of my life, I don't think I've ever had such a good night sleep. My body, my soul, my mind, everything was relaxed, it felt like I was in some never-ending dream filled with so much euphoria and only that, but unfortunately, that feeling was instantly cut short when I heard noises and movements beside me, but I did not open my eyes anyway, thinking it'd go away pretty soon.

"Aya!" I grabbed a deep, male voice, but I couldn't figure out exactly who it belonged to.

"Aya!"

Once again I decided to ignore, but that was just until something hit me; why the jahannam was I hearing a man's voice beside me in my sleep?

Dear god!

I wanted to run immediately but I was too weak to do so, so I just slowly opened my eyes, blinking multiple times afterwards to adjust to the sudden brightness and looked around to make myself familiar with the surrounding, but the first thing I laid eyes on made me regret ever waking up that morning.

Hafeez was right beside me, his right arm under my head, my left arm wrapped around his torso and our legs tangled together. I immediately let go off him and sat upright, putting my kimono back on to cover the skin showing through my tank top and then went crazy in search of my cap as my hair was all over the place like the jungle it is.

"Did you think you were sleeping with your teddy bear or something?" His voice came, making me stop my cap hunt abruptly to glare at him.

"Teddy bear?" I raised an eyebrow.

"Yeah, because you almost squeezed the life out of me" he said "this bed is big enough for at least 5 people to comfortably crash on, but you left all the space on that side and came to terrorize my airway"

Oh how embarrassing that was, but I did not let him see that, I just went with the 'you cant shame the shameless' vibe even though I was really ashamed.

"Will you stop making everything about you? That's just how I sleep, okay? I move a lot and can end up anywhere, so stop acting like my spirit was drawn to your body in my sleep or something" I rolled my eyes.

"Where the heck is my cap?" I Asked no one in particular as I kept looking under the pillows. I always wonder why he had so much pillows on just one bed when he was the only person using the whole room. That bed was always ready for a furniture showroom Advertisement.

I finally found the cap somewhere on the floor near his side of the bed. I quickly threw my hair into a messy bun and put the cap on, which weirdly brought me some sense of safety and relief.

"How do you comfortably walk around with that?" He asked.

"With what?"

"That Fake hair. Doesn't the heat from it make your real hair stink like Rotten eggs?"

I bursted into laughter "you think I'm wearing a wig?"

"Even a blind person can see that it's a wig"

Again, I laughed "if you think this is a wig, I don't know what you'll say when you see Zarah's"

"There's no way I'm believing that's natural because I've never seen a Nigerian with hair that long.."

"Your mum is Fulani for crying out loud"
