~One Month Later~

Okay so it's safe to say Jimin's a wreck.

Losing his baby is by far the worst thing that's ever happened to him. Dahyun wasn't even this bad. The grades, the drinking, the Jungkook quarrel - nothing in his life compares to losing her. Maybe he's being dramatic saying that losing his girlfriend of a year and seven months is the worst thing that's ever happened to him, but every morning he goes to touch her side of the bed and breaks down when he remembers she isn't there. It's killing him. Slowly but surely it's killing him.

They haven't talked in a full month. She came by while he was at his morning class and took all her stuff the day after they broke up, leaving the key she had on the counter. Obviously he cried even harder when he came home to an empty house. Well, it wasn't empty since he was still there but... if she's not around it doesn't even matter. His house isn't a home without Y/N. He knows that.

She moved back on-campus according to Jungkook. Something about an apartment with someone who's roommate dropped out. There's plenty of dropouts, especially in sophomore year, so Jimin's glad she at least found a place relatively quickly. To his surprise she left him the car... and she's still paying for rent.

He texted her and told her not to but she ignored him (as expected). For some reason she's still insistent on paying for the rent and even leaving some extra money for groceries. When she left the spare key, she left a big check with it. Just a day ago he found a check like the first one in his mailbox along with a note saying she'll take care of rent for the rest of the year. Something about not wanting her hard work to go to waste. Something about... her still wanting him to be happy.

Jimin knocked some sense into himself after the breakup. Instead of moping around crying (which he admittedly still did a lot of) he got serious about college. He had Minho babysit him. Make sure he didn't go out to anymore parties. He tossed all the beer he had in the fridge and finally grew a pair to ask Namjoon for help. His grades will take time to improve, but he's finally not failing anymore. D's, but it's passable. He's hoping for the last quarter of school left he can at least get them to high C's, maybe B's if he's lucky and does some extra credit. Jimin managed to sway his professor's hearts when he begged them for more opportunities. They didn't really care at first (college profs rarely do), then they learned about how he was hooked on alcohol. When they heard that they cut him some slack.

Now here he is. Standing outside her classroom. He really, really shouldn't be doing this... but it's been a month. He needs to talk to her at least once. Not to make up necessarily... just to tell her that he's working on himself. He knows that they'll probably never fix what happened, but maybe if she sees that he's healing, they can be friends again. They certainly have enough mutuals, they're going to cross paths at some point and they can't be awkward then.

As soon as her class files out, he steps inside and sees her talking to a group of two he doesn't recognize. Must be new friends she made. Both girls, a little bit taller than her. He doesn't pay much attention to them though. They laugh and it's in that moment that Jimin realizes they're about to leave.

"Y/N," he calls out. Thank God he didn't stutter. He thought for sure he would. She goes still and turns to meet his sorry eyes. "I um... I'll catch up," she tells her friends. They say their goodbyes and depart, leaving Jimin and Y/N alone together in one big classroom.

They awkwardly stand there, Jimin unsure of what to say at first. "Namjoon tells me you're studying now?" she starts, her eyes on the ground while she fiddles with her fingers. "Yeah... I got my grades up a little bit. I'm not gonna fail out. On course to getting C's for the classes I was failing. It's looking up."
