On late Christmas night, snow poured outside in a glistening manner. In a normal holiday like this, families would be giving gifts as usual, sitting on a table eating happily together, laughing joyfully, and so on and so forth. Delinquents like me would not relate, now that we're having a huge burden in our backs.
Funny. We're literally just middle-schoolers.
Wearing the usual black Toman uniform with its jacket, I stared at myself in the mirror again contemplating what am I now if my brother didn't died. If that bastard Kisaki didn't exist nor whatever his goal. If these gangs didn't exist. I would probably peacefully eating gingerbread cookies this time with a simple hot milk enough to sustain this occasion.
Finally composing myself together, I saw Chifuyu outside waiting for me wearing the same attire with his anxious expression plastered all over his face.
"Let's go?"
"Go there first. I'll catch up later." I replied, squeezing my fingers a little behind my back as Chifuyu gave me a bewildered response.
"I'll visit nii-san's grave before going. You must be there to keep an eye on Kisaki." I continued. Chifuyu's lips parted for a reply but I gave him an assuring look making him close his mouth again. Before parting ways, Chifuyu hugged my head all of a sudden, giving me bits of warmth from this tense situation.
"Don't do anything reckless (Y/n)-san."
I then walked my way to the cemetery while Chifuyu rode my brother's bike to Udugawa church where everything will take place.
Facing my brother's tombstone, I shortly recalled the memories with my brother, waiting for Sanzu to arrive like we agreed to.
Tonight I might become a murderer.
An absolute contradiction to my likes yes. Before, I already made sights what will I do to the future: Open a pet shop with my brother; Travel the world; and at least give my parents some relief in life. In this night all of those will be cut off, and I might just receive some blood staining my hands.
"(Y/n)." A husk voice called behind my back, my figure meeting Sanzu with his usual bored face as its half was covered with black mask again. He then signaled me to get going, which I did after giving my brother a last glance.
"Sanzu do you already have a plan to distract Hanma?" I asked, feeling my feet sink to the deep snow making it harder to run.
"Yes. I already did it earlier." Sanzu replied.
"Eh?"
"It sounds reckless if you think but we have no choice."
"What did you did?" I asked, stopping to catch my breath as Sanzu did the same.
"I gave him a specific time to go in the alley near 5th division's turf, make it seem that it was Mucho's request. What I told him was quite a long detail but we have no time to talk about that. Just trust me." He shortly explained before sprinting to church again with me. I don't really get what he said but one thing's for sure due to Sanzu's nature: He'll beat up Hanma the time he get in that alley.
"(Y/n)." Sanzu called, a folding blade in his hand as we stood in the rear are of the church.
"Be careful." He added, handing me the knife in his hand. I stared at it for a bit, imagining red stains all over its surface. Me and Sanzu then parted ways according to the plan we both did, myself arriving in an area which is against Kisaki's orders. As I remembered, he put me in the entrance of the church as a guard if anything happens but who am I to follow that asshole's orders?
I met some people on their way home while I went to the place where Kisaki, Hanma, and Chifuyu will ambush Taiju. Knowing Chifuyu, he might stop me from doing my scheme however Sanzu helped me to make a counter plan when that happens.
I hid myself near a cinder block pole in the church's porch, waiting for Hanma's figure to come out before going against Kisaki. Approaching that man with Hanma would be a huge risk, knowing the difference in our size despite of the close gap of our strength.
If only I was a few inches taller.
Soon enough after concealing myself, I saw Hanma walk outside from his designated spot which means Kisaki was left there with Chifuyu. He has this serious face enough to scare anyone, considering his eerie look that will give you goosebumps. I squinted my eyes more to get a clearer view, seeing Hanma look around that seems he was searching for someone.
Pretty sure its me.
I felt a flush of relief when he stared walking ahead away from the church as I waited for the chance his gone from that sight, darting myself to area where Kisaki is. Slowly walking there while hiding myself, I prevented unnecessary sounds to cover my presence.
"Where's (Y/n)?" Kisaki's voice echoed to the marble place, stopping me in my tracks.
"In the area you assigned her right? Did you forgot it because your head's filled with evil deeds--" Chifuyu was interrupted by a loud thud as I hear him cough afterwards. My curiosity and panic rushing me over, I went to a pillar nearer to their voices peaking afterwards.
In a bolt arousing in my body, I saw Chifuyu tied up in a post with a tape covering his face as he struggled to get out from the knot behind him.
"Again, where's (Y/n)?" He questioned, grabbing a fistful of hair from Chifuyu who's fusing with anger. For a moment, I also felt myself firing up with fury but I tried to calm myself down, knowing Sanzu is also there risking himself. I can't afford to fail this.
The sounds of strike for Chifuyu continued, also hearing him cough loudly as he struggle for air. Failing to control myself, I raged towards Kisaki, opening the blade in my knife before stabbing him in his lower back. I then removed the knife in his back before grabbing his figure, throwing it to the ground, blood gushing from his back. My stomach twisted before charging at him again, throwing punches at his petty face along with his glasses now in shards.
"I HAD ENOUGH OF YOU!!" I wailed, throwing a strong spike in his face, kicking his body making him cough blood. In this exact time, my mind went horrendously fuzzy. My attempt to outrun my fuse earlier failed, now being clouded by Chifuyu's figure tied up with blood visible on his mouth and the memories of my brother's cold body that I didn't even wished to appear in this moment.
Feeling a bit of fatigue in myself, I looked at Kisaki under me slowly losing his consciousness. The outrage in my limbs is still there, feeling my eyes turn cold seeing at the body lying on the ground before darting it to Chifuyu. I felt numb, really numb as I released Chifuyu from his tie.
"(Y/n)-san--"
"SHUT UP!!"
Again reaching the blade, I walked over Kisaki's body. Chifuyu tried to stop me, however I unconsciously threw him in the ground before hearing him yelp in pain. Inner me is questioning what I was doing, yet there's no stopping when emotions strikes you.
Kisaki stared at my eyes, his half-dead orbs either looking at me with fear or vexation. Unhesitatingly lifting the blade, I pointed it at Kisaki's abdomen who was grappling against me.
"(Y/N)-SAN WATCH OUT!!!" Chifuyu yelled, earning my attention to the presence that appeared behind me all of a sudden. It was too fast. Too swift. In a stroke of bolt, a sharp stinging pain hit the back of my head, pitch black darkness welcoming me.
"(Y/N)-SAAAANNNN!!"
To be continued
