Chapter 03

"Sabi ni Mama sunduin ko daw kayo."

Doubtful. That was the one word I could describe for this night. I know I shouldn't be overthinking about the little things, but the way how this night turned out could almost make my mind go rounds of wondering. I keep saying to myself that there's nothing big deal and I shouldn't act immature, however this nagging feeling was pestering me.

It was awkward. I haven't seen my sister for four years, and in those four years, I never contacted or asked how she was doing. It feels like I temporarily removed her from my life.

When Lorelei's eyes darted to my husband, recognition dawned on her face as if she's reminiscing what Paris is before in her life.

That was off for me, but I acted cool... as if nothing is bothering me. I shifted my eyes away from her and looked at Paris, who's still in shock. "Aren't you going to say something to my sister, Hon? She just came back from New York," I uttered, which made Paris blinked twice. It looks like he already gained his senses.

He cleared his throat and beamed. "It's nice seeing you, Lorelei. So... How's New York?"

"It's fine...

I chuckled. "You guys look awkward.

"Sorry to cut the conversation, but can we go inside already? Baka kasi naiinip na si Mama."

I nodded.

"Are you okay having dinner with my family? Si Mama kasi inaya ka," sabi ko.

"It's unusual that your mother is inviting me for dinner so, why should I decline?"

Put yourself together, Rigan. Stop thinking nonsense things.

When we got to the dining area, we got their attention except for my mother, who can't even lift her head to welcome my husband. She's the one who invited Paris to this dinner, and yet she's giving him the cold shoulder. I'm the one who's getting embarrassed because of how she's acting.
