As Ash and Leaf were going towards their home, they heard some shouting and an explosion, followed by smoke, coming from near Prism Tower. Leaf looked at her brother, scared and clutched his arm,
Leaf: "What was that, big brother?" she asked with fear evident in her voice. Ash looked towards the direction with a serious look, and said without averting his gaze.
Ash: "I don't know, but we should check out what is going on. Someone might need our help" he said with this look:

And they started running in the direction they came from. When Ash and Leaf reached Prism Tower again, they saw a horrific sight. Four people were standing in front of Calem's group, battling Trip, Misty, Paul and Brendan. These were the same people Ash had saved Leaf from a few says ago. But there was something different about them. They were wearing team Flare uniforms .
The pokemon: Mega Steelix, Mega Swampert, Mega Gengar and Mega Salamence, also had some changes in their appearance: their bodies were covered with a dark coloured energy(DARK AURA) and in place of their eyes were red glowing orbs. Ash's eyes widened as he recognised the purple energy and the outfits.
Ash: "Team Flare and shadow pokemon. But what are they doing here anyway" he muttered under his breath, but Leaf heard it. Ash looked down at his scared sister and then back up to see the last pokemon which was standing of the group unable to battle.
He had to help quick, but he couldn't leave his sister alone either, and if he left Pikachu with her and used one of his other pokemon, then that would blow off his cover. He was having trouble in deciding on what to do and the time was running out
Rex: "Now get that girl" he heard Rex say to one of the grunts, pointing towards Serena. The grunt nodded and started advancing towards the group. Ash started to look around frantically, trying to find a way to help,
Ash: "I've got to do something, but what?" he growled in frustration as the Team Flare member reached the group and started fighting Paul and Trip, who came forward to stop him from getting to Serena, but the grunt easily got past them.
As Ash was looking around, he found someone's hoodie lying on the floor near an alleyway. An idea instantly popped in his head. He looked at Pikachu and
Ash: "Pikachu, stay here with Leaf and make sure she stays safe at all costs" he said in an authoritative manner, to which Pikachu replied with a nod and "Pika!" in the same tone. He then looked at Leaf and
Ash: "Stay right here till I come back" Ash told her sternly, and she nodded without a word. Getting the confirmation, the raven haired boy took off towards the alley, picking up the black hoodie on the way.
He then entered the small space and started climbing the walls, jumping from the right building to the left, and back. He climbed to the top like this and put the piece of cloth on as soon as he got up.
