This late at night, the Palm Woods pool was technically closed for residents to use. That still didn't stop Kit and Logan from sneaking downstairs to sit by the water to clear their minds and to catch up. The pair sat by the pool's edge, feet dangling into the water.

Between their hectic schedules, spending time with James, and trying to come up with the rest of her demo songs, Kit still had yet to get a chance to really catch up with Logan about the whole 'Camille kissing James' fiasco.

Camille told her that Logan broke things off with her shortly afterwards, but it didn't exactly look that way from the outside. The two still spent plenty of time together and on at least one occasion, Kit had seen them act more than friendly. She didn't know what exactly they were, but friends don't kiss like that. It was all she could hope that they knew what they were doing, at least enough to avoid breaking their own hearts. Kit, already haven heard Camille's side of the story, was interested to hear how Logan felt about things.

Kit leaned back onto her hands, tilting her head to look at him. She wanted to ease her way into the conversation, but it came out a lot less subtle than she meant for it to.

"So," she began. "How are things with Camille, after... you know...?"

He frowned. Logan hesitated a moment, not entirely sure of the answer himself. "I'm not sure," he admitted. "I mean, we're not together, together anymore...

"But feelings don't just disappear. I guess, we're just hanging out"

In more ways than one, he envied James and Kit. Their relationship weathered the same hurricane that his and Camille's had, yet they somehow managed to come out the other side stronger than ever, whereas his own house of cards was scattered into pieces. Logan wasn't really sure why he kept trying to make things work with Camille. Habit, maybe. Perhaps he simply enjoyed her company. Whatever the reason, it made Logan feel slimy inside to know that he was using Camille as a means to fill the gap in his heart where he longed for someone else.

Suddenly finding his hands really interesting, Logan stared intently at them as they fidgeted in his lap. Kit glanced briefly up from her feet to Logan. She smiled softly. Whether oblivious to it or ignoring the slump to his shoulders, she kept her tone positive.

"That's really great, Logan. Camille's a great girl"

"Yeah," he said. "She is. Just not for me."

Kit lifted her gaze to him, confused. "Huh?"

Logan exhaled deeply. He kicked at the water around his feet, watching it ripple.

"You're right, by the way, love science is stupid," he chuckled dryly. "Because I don't need some machine to tell me what I want"

The sympathetic smile she offered him sparked warmth deep within him. All the time he spent trying to decide where his heart lied with Camille now felt like time wasted. With Kit, it was always easy. Logan never felt the need to pretend to be somebody else. She felt like home.

The grade school crush he harbored for Kit Knight never really went away.

"Oh. I'm sorry you and Camille broke up."

Logan offered a polite thanks, but deep down, he wasn't so sure he felt that way. Of course, he felt bad for hurting Camille, who he liked a bunch, but his heart had always been with someone else. Camille seemed to know that, too.
