Apartment 2J was unusually silent. Kendall and Katie stood, facing the couches. Kendall bit nervously at his fingernails. Carlos sat next to Logan on the couch. It was clear that he struggled to sit still and keep quiet. Kit sat to the other side of Logan, watching him. Logan hunched over the coffee table. It was filled with open textbooks, typed notes, and handwritten notecards that Kit had helped him make to study.

Some snacks were hidden underneath the study materials. Logan threw aside the papers and grabbed a notecard and a pen.

Carlos, placed his hands on his legs. Unable to keep it up any longer, he spoke. "I'm gonna go make a corn dog."

Logan held a hand up, keeping him there. He didn't look up from his studying.

"Don't move."

Carlos sat back in his seat.

The front door opened. Bitters entered. He opened up his blazer, showing off the t-shirt he wore with a photo of Kendall on it.

"Hey," he said. "Can you sign my shirt for me, that I'm definitely not settling on the web?"

This got him only a brief look from Kendall and Katie. Rolling his eyes, Kendall shushed the man. Both siblings turned to him, eyes wide. Bitters lowered his hands, but quieted. Mrs. Knight walked over to Katie. She held a brown paper bag in her hands.

Quietly, she asked her daughter, "Is he ready?"

Logan threw his pen aside and slammed the textbook shut. He stood, slapping his hands against his thighs.

"Whoo!" He cheered.

Kit, Kendall, and Katie answered. "He's ready."

Kit followed just behind Logan as he ran over to them. She took her place between Kendall and Katie. He picked up a booklet from the table. Smiling, he explained to Bitters.

"Today I take my first Medical College Admissions Test, and the first step to being a doctor."

Bitters knit his eyebrows. He pointed at the MCAT booklet, gesturing with his Sharpie. "You're supposed to take that test after four years of college, not before you enter college."

Carlos, who had approached them and now stood by Logan, tilted his head.

"Yes," he said. "But–"

He glanced at Logan. The rest of them recited the familiar phrase together:

"You're never too young to prepare for your future."

Kendall popped his head to glare at Bitters.

"Exactly," Logan pointed to Carlos, agreeing. "And once I ace this test, they'll probably ask me to skip college and go right to surgery."

Bitters, who had been trained as a veterinary doctor, gave him a look of disbelief. He didn't bother to burst the boy's bubble any more than that test was about to.

"Now," Logan held his hand out. "Things."

Mrs. Knight lifted up the paper bag. "Healthy snacks to keep your brain at its peak."

Katie held up her item, "Four juice boxes with convenient caddy to keep your brain hydrated."

"A kiss for good luck," said Kit.

She stepped forward, cupping his face in her hands, and pecked him gently on the lips. Once she stepped back in place, Logan looked expectantly to the other twin.
