There once was a time,
When I forgot to love.
How to smile and laugh,
Those little blessings sent from above.

For I told myself,
"I do not care"
To will away the voices,
Whispering in my ear.

Who knew it would come back to bite me,
Well, I did, but I was not bothered.
For once in my life I felt weightless,
Free, not smothered.

For once I did not need to cry,
Those useless and lonely tears.
And I did not need to fear,
The monsters in my nightmares.

But for course the pretense could not last forever,
And I'd have to face reality sooner or later.
I'd have to wake up from my deep slumber,
Or face the repercussions my choices have gathered.
