The scent of cinnamon was the first thing that woke me up. As my eyes crept open I observed my blurred surroundings. I was still in my room but an orange glow stopped me from seeing everything. I rubbed my eyes as I sat up. Standing before me was a tall skeletal figure.

"Holy Shit!" I scrambled to the back wall of my bed and grasped for something to use in defense. Waking up to a stranger in your house was one thing but a skeleton? That was terrifying.

"WOAH WOAH CALM DOWN HUMAN." the skeleton began. Hands up in defense. I stared warily at them as they took a step back to indicate they meant no harm. "I AM NOT HERE TO HURT YOU."I took a few deep breathes and eyed them up and down carefully. The skeleton lowered their hands to rest in front of them. Still giving me a clear view of where their hands were. "I AM PAPYRUS. YOU WERE TOLD SOMEONE WAS COMING TO GET YOU YES? THAT'S WHAT I'M HERE FOR." they stated.

I took in his appearance. So this was who was sent to get me. I glanced at my clock and saw the glowing letters read 9:07 AM. It was still early. I let out one last huff of air before deciding that this skeleton was safe for me to not be so on edge.

"Papyrus huh," I started, pushing myself off my bed and towards my jacket and bag, "How did you even get in? I know I lock my doors." I slipped my jacket on and reached for my bag of paperwork on the case. Papyrus beat me to it and slung the bag over his shoulder.

"WELL, THAT WOULD BE MAGIC OF COURSE. I DIDN'T SEE A NEED TO KNOCK AND CAUSE A BIG SCENE. AS I'M SURE YOU KNOW MOST WOULD RECOGNIZE ME HAD I JUST STARTED KNOCKING ON YOUR DOOR. NOW WE REALLY SHOULD GET GOING, WE WOULDN'T WANT TO KEEP SANS WAITING." Papyrus reached his hand out to me and I took it. Before I could even ask who Sans was there was a bright orange glow that enveloped us. The scent of cinnamon reached my nose and my body felt light.

Before I knew it we were inside a completely different house. My stomach churned and I had to grip onto Papyrus to avoid collapsing to the floor. Papyrus held my hand with one of his own and his other hand was placed on the small of my back as he led me to a couch.

I sat down and took a moment to catch myself before examining the room. It was surprisingly clean for a mafia hideout.

"They're here?!" and an excited voice said as multiple footsteps were heard coming towards the room I was in. As I looked up Papyrus came back with another small skeleton and Toriel. Toriel's eyes lit up as she came towards me and pulled me off the couch into a bone-crushing hug.

I gave her an awkward pat on the back as she let me go. Someone clearing their throat caught our attention. The smaller skeleton had his arms crossed looking impatient. He shot a small glare at Toriel as she smiled at me and was led out of the room by Papyrus.

"What do you need." The smaller skeleton asked, his voice gruff as he sat down on the couch opposite to me and eyed me in a lazy yet hostile manner.

My eyes widened as I took a seat back down and shot him a glare of my own. "For starters," I pulled the small amount of paperwork he had given me out of the bag Papyrus set next to me, "Sans, that's your name right, you are incredibly dense." I started dropping the stack of paperwork in front of him. "You gave me mild paperwork on this incident and didn't even bother to give me a way to ask you any other questions. I am talented but I'm not a miracle worker. So do not act like I am. I will find Frisk but you need to work with me." His brow bone raised slightly and there was a tense silence for a moment.

"Fine. Fine, you're right. I'm sorry. What do you need from me to make this better." He threw his hands up in surrender before placing his forearms on his knees and leaning towards the paperwork.

"I need a list of people who you have grudges with. It doesn't matter if you think it's relevant or not. Anyone who has something against you has a reason to kidnap the kid. I have a few other things I need on this list here," I handed him a piece of paper with short-handed notes on other information I needed, "A map of the city along with who owns what would also be helpful."

I leaned back into the couch as Sans nodded his head. He stood up and left the room telling me to wait a while and he would be back

It was about a week ago that Sans had given me the information I had asked for. I spent the past seven days and nights going over and over the information. As well as pulling a few connections of my own to check suspects off the list. I narrowed it down to one place.

I had grown closer to my employers between the small visits I had sharing what information I came up with. Well closer with Toriel and Papyrus. Sans had lowered his hostilities towards me but that was about it. I had learned that Frisk and Toriel were not part of the mafia rather just close with Sans. I had also learned Sans wasn't the boss. The boss was a man named Gaster.

I didn't ask a lot of questions but knowing this information did open up a bunch of new possibilities for culprits. Besides this point, I had finally the most likely suspects. It was a group of low-cut gangsters who thought they could take the kid and take a deep hit on the mafia. My phone rang a few times before a familiar tired voice answered. "What ya got?" Sans asked, yawning after he finished his sentence. I let out a huff of air and sighed. Holding the phone between my shoulder and ear as I shuffled through the notes I had.

"I narrowed down the suspect tree and found out who is most likely behind it. I was hoping you could spare some backup so we can go check it out." I started mapping out the directions to the warehouse they were holed up in.

"We? Listen doll their ain't no we in this business. You just send me the location and I will take some men to go find the kid."

"Not happening," I threw my jacket over my shoulders. "I've found another reason I need to go. So we either all go or only I go." I heard a hearty laugh from the other side of the phone. "By the stars you are stupid aren't ya? This is a gangster operation we are after. Not those small unestablished groups you usually go after. Doll if you go with you're better off dead. We don't need you getting the kid killed."

"Sans, I'm going. This is non-negotiable. I'll tell you exactly where the kid should be and you can go get them. I won't interfere with your part of this. You get the kid and get out. Send the rest of what you owe me to my house and we never have to see each other again."

"And what is it you need to do exactly? Get yourself killed?"

"None of your business. I'm going that the end of it. I'll meet you at the meet-up spot I set of with Paps. I'll hand over the information you need and we will be on our separate ways. Deal?"

There was a slight pause before a defeated sigh was heard. "Deal."

Okay, so part three will be coming soon. There isn't much Sans x Reader just yet but I promise the last part should have some more. But with that Good Morning, Good afternoon, and Good night wherever you are!!
