Nightmare x Abused!Reader

I did it this time. I covered my mouth, in fear that he would find me.

"Where are you, you ungrateful brat!" he screamed. I had accidentally broken a plate. However, this wasnt unnormal. He normaly got mad and beat me.

By now I was able to hide it well. No one knew. I pressed my ear against the bathroom door.

Silence

I was about to peak out when the door started to get pulled open. I shrieked and pushed against the door.

"I-Im sorry!" I cried, tears dripping down my face.

"Open this damn door!" he screamed. The door suddenly slammed open. I tried to crawl backwards but was stopped by the wall.

He stood over me, smiling menicingly. In his hand he had a beer bottle. I closed my eyes as he brought it down over my head.

I woke up in the closet. He normally put me in here after he beat me. It was dark and cold. I felt my way around until I found the door knob. I twisted it and it opened.

I heard him snoring on the couch. He must have passed out. I quickly and quietly scampered up the stairs and into my room.

Once inside I made sure to lock the door. I sat on my bed and started cleaning the wounds he had left. After doing a double check I laid down, closing my eyes and forcing myself to sleep.

In your dreams

It was peaceful. I was in a forest. It was quiet and, non-violent for once. I was about to stand up when something growled. I slowly turned towards the noise. It was a giant, black, creature. Now when most people would scream, I smiled.

They had a wierd cutness to them.

"Hello." I said, keeping my voice in a friendly tone. They froze, as if they weren't expecting this. They looked at each other, as if say  'what do we do?'

Before they could do anything, a tiny version of them bounded towards me. It skidded to a stop in front of me. I put my hand out, allowing the creature to smell it. It sniffed it before rubbing its...head? Against my hand. I chuckled and pet it.

The other two carefully walked towards us and sniffed me. A few moments after I was being trampled by the creatures. I felt their wet noise tap me. I giggled at the feeling.

After a while they all stopped and laid around me, creating a small trap. I tried to get up only to discover that it was impossible.

I sighed before accepting my fate, and falling asleep.

Nightmare POV

This was...not expected. I watched as this girl tamed my beasts. She was different. Most people would be crying by now but she, she was the complete opposite. I decided to observe her when she woke up. There had to be a reason.

Your POV

I woke up to a sharp pain in my stomach.

"You little fuck!" he screamed, punching me again. I coughed at the sudden pressure. He did that for a while before leaving.

I gasped for air as he slammed the door closed. I decided it was best to stay like that for a while.

It must have been only an hour or so before I heard him come back home. He slammed the front door. From how hard it sounded, he was drunk. I started to panic at the thought of what he would do once he saw that I hadn't cleaned anything.

I heard him start to walk up the stairs. I counted down the seconds until he would open that door and it would be over.

I closed my eyes and pulled my knees to my chest, waiting. I heard a large crash. But, nothing else. I slowly opened my eyes and saw that I was, somewhere.

"W-where am..." I trailed off as I saw a skeleton in front of me. My eyes widened as I observed him.

"Uh...I'm Nightmare." the skeleton said, reaching is hand out. I looked at his hand and then back at him. I hesitently took his hand and shook it. He gave me a kind, patient smile.

"I-I'm (Y/N)." I said, standing up. He nodded.

"I know I kinda....have been watching you? But before you freak out it's kinda my job. I won't explain anymore but, I saw what he did to you and wanted to get you out of there."  he said, scratching the back of his skull. I paused for a moment before smiling.

I felt my body basically throw itself at him.

"T-thank you." I said, tears streaming down my face. He seems confused but slowly hugged back.

"Y-you're welcome." he said. We parted and I whipped my tears.

"Oh!" he said suddenly, he closed his eyes for a moment. When he opened them, the odd creature from my dream was in front of us. I gasped and fell to the floor. It ran to me and started licking me again.

"Were you the one that caused my dream?" I asked, turning to him. He nodded. I smiled.

"Thank you!" I said, still petting the creature. I froze when a obvious thought popped in my head.

"Hey...uh...you can...stay here if you would like." Nightmare said, almost as if reading my mind. I turned towards him and hesitently responded.

"Is..is it ok?" I asked. He nodded.

"You don't deserve to go back there." he knelt down next to me. I lunged at him. Hugging him.

"Thank you so much." I mumbled into his shoudler. He hugged me back.

"Don't worry. I'll protect you."
