A/N: TWO A/NS THIS TIME BUT. I AM RUNNING ON NOTHING BUT ROCK CANDY AND SPITE AND IT IS VERY LAYE AT NIGHT HOWEVER I WANTED TO GET A CHAPTER OUT SO. HERE YOU GO SIMPS

The next few days were rough. The snow had stopped falling, but it never stopped being a problem. Dawn to dusk, your group trekked the prairie, until you reached the woods again. These ones were different; instead of the lush green oaks of the first forest, this forest had dark pines, with rocks and large, thick thorn vines jutting out everywhere. Madeleine kept trying to tell you that it was the same forest that surrounded the kingdom, but you were coming in from a different angle. You weren't sure. Especially as the days felt longer, despite technically getting shorter.

You were running out of food, too; every time you camped, you went out hunting and foraging with Chea, but were only able to get enough to barely feed you all for the night. You didn't have a surplus. You'd also hear rustling in the bushes behind you. You didn't know if it was Red Velvet, something that wanted to murder you, or both. There was no way to be sure.

You'd been traveling for around 17 days in total. Granted, you had to go around the mountains, rather then through the valley like you had done on the trip to get there. The trip there had taken a mere 5 days, but traveling around the mountains (and at a slower pace now without the horses) added 12. After nagging him for a bit, you finally got Madeleine to tell you how long you'd been gone. 3 months. 91 days of nothing but sitting in prisons and caring for the enemy. Of course, it had been around about
116 days since your family had seen you. You weren't sure if you could go back; would they forgive you?

On the 18th night you saw it. The castle, outlined extremely faint against the horizon. The next morning you were practically snapping Espresso and Madeleine in half shaking them awake. You couldn't wait.

"We're almost there!" You started sprinting off in the woods. Madeleine snatched the back of your shirt, break-checking you with a jolt.

"Let me enter first to explain everything, Y/N!" He shouted. You frowned, falling into step behind him and Espresso. You had gotten way closer to the castle, and now, you were on the main road. Dusk was already looming, but that wasn't much of a concern. Chea barked happily.

"Shshshhhhhhhh.. you can't do that, okay?" You hushed her, and she whined, trudging next to you. She would be hell to explain. You saw the main gates through the trees, and one of the guards dropped her lance as Madeleine turned the corner. She scrambled to pick it up, and rushed down the hill, her fellow guard running after her.

"MADELEINE! ESPRESSO! YOU'RE ALIVE?!" She asked frantically. Pulling off her helmet, her breath quickened, and she shook her head.

"I have to get Raspberry and Pastry Cookie - wait here!" She whipped around, and, dropping her helmet, ran back through the gates. The other guard was breathing quickly, and then he noticed Chea. Letting out a startled yell, he pulled out his sword and pointed it at her. She growled, and you stepped in front of her, pointing your sword at him in return.

"Leave her alone." His jaw dropped to the floor.

"Is that...?" He shook his head frantically. "What is your name?!"

"Y/N. Y/N C-"

"I have to get Almond!!" He turned, and ran after the other knight.
