You heard something land on the ground behind you, and you knew instantly who it was. Drawing in a sharp breath, you bolted. Chea was in your tent; you didn't want her to trip you. Dark Enchantress wasn't running. No.

Every few feet she'd teleport behind you.

"Why are you running, child? There's no point~! He can't save you now!" She yelled. You drew in a shaky, fearful breath, pressing onwards, and she laughed.

"You've no reason to keep running! I'll catch you anyways!" You didn't falter at her words, and she didn't try anything else, so you were running steadily.

Until your breath ran out.

You reached down, pulling your sword out of the sheath with the terrifying knowledge you'd have to face and fight her, and you came up to a small spot on a hill without trees.

Instead of teleporting behind you this time, Dark Enchantress teleported a bit in front of you to the side, and stuck her foot out, tripping you.

You skid across the grass, still a little wet from the melted snow, and your sword flew a bit from you. You tried to stand up and get it, but Dark Enchantress stepped on your back, pushing you back down.

"Why are you still trying?! It's futile! Just give up!" She said, amused at your attempts to writhe away.

"Get o-off of me!" You sputtered, shaking your arms around your back and trying to grab her foot.

"Why would I? I have you right where I want you, Y/N."

Your eyes widened. "How do you know my name?!"

"I know a lot about you. I know your family. I know where they live. I know how much you care about them. And if you give me any more trouble, they'll die too!"

You were silent with horror. She smiled.

"Good, child. Now... before I kill you and extract your power from your dead body, there's a little.. test I must do." She stepped off, chuckling lowly, and you realized you wouldn't make it to your sword. Drawing in a sharp breath, you rolled so that you were on your back, holding yourself up with your elbows, and you saw Dark Enchantress raise her staff.

The entire thing glowed a pale red, and your eyes widened as she reeled it behind her with two hands.

And then she swung it down towards you.

You shrieked, raising your right arm to stop it from hitting your chest,

and a crack split the air.

Red Velvet heard her scream.

He had managed to free himself from the root, and was running, running to try and find her. He didn't know where she was for a while, sprinting blindly, but as soon as he heard her he knew.

She was in danger.

You doubled over, gasping. Pain seared your arm like vicious flames, and you felt like you were being destroyed from the inside out. You gritted your teeth, whimpering, and gingerly touched your arm. Pain sliced it again, and you pulled away, drawing a shaky breath. It was definitely broken.

Meanwhile, Dark Enchantress stood, leaning on her staff impatiently.

"You done?" She said, tapping her foot. You didn't respond, and she glanced around.
