IT IS DONE!!!!!
I started Chicanery back in October of 2021 after I got Red Velvet from Hollyberry's Exclusive Gacha and had my first hear me out moment. Months, a change of interests, and an entire move across the country later, it's finally complete! I'm so happy to see it finally done, and I know that everyone who has been here since the beginning is as well. Although this was stated in a previous chapter, I'd like to note that Chicanery was inspired by another book! I spent almost every day for a solid four months daydreaming about the plot for this book, yet I admit there's a lot I'd change about it. The beginning feels too inspired, as I sited an inspiration but basically tore the first chapters out of it and built from there. The title also makes little sense to me now; it was named "Chicanery" originally because the first draft of the plot was based around the word's definition a bit more, but after I chose a new path for the story the meaning was mostly lost. Not only that, but it's riddled with confusing plotlines and missing character motivation (I'd rather forget about Doves and Knives than read through that nightmare of a chapter again) that could have been easily fixed if I'd planned it further. I also started my riding lessons recently, and some of the things the horses did, such as catching and jumping up into a moving train, are quite literally almost impossible. Also I don't think horses. Really have a fleshy spot near their flank, sorry Batik. If I remember correctly, it's mostly sensitive nerves at the flank, so that bullet probably should have made him a bit lame for a while. I also feel like I made Y/N WAY too filled out; they're more of a character than an insert a reader can fill out. And I may have deviated too much from canon,, why the fuck would Latte own a ranch like why did I never explain or provide any way to back that up
Who knows, maybe I'll rewrite it in the future? Though, based on how long writing this took, that seems unlikely.
