Raindrops pattered on the window. Thunder rolled outside.

You jolted up a bit, wincing into yourself; your torso stung. Catching your breath proved to be difficult, but you managed. You were in a new room now. The bed was unfamiliar, though it carried a slightly familiar scent. The whole room did. Some picture frames hung around the room, but with your vision still a bit blurry it was hard to tell what was displayed in them. The lights were off, and it was storming outside, the only light in the room being the occasional flash of lightning. You staggered to your feet, balancing yourself on wobbly legs and finding your way across the room to the window.

You were in the tower still; you recognized the view, except this time you were higher up. You must be in one of the top floor rooms, judging from the volume of the rain pounding against the roof. And that's all you really did. Look out the window. You occasionally tried to stretch your limbs out because they felt stiff, but it was futile. Your entire body except for some of your joints was bandaged up from the lightning hit. At some point you peeled back the bandages on your arm, analyzing the intricate branch-like scarring. It had struck you dead on; that was going to be a story you told for a while. But there was something more important to this.

You lived. You'd heard stories of how Dark Choco can take out anybody he wants to; the lightning he sends has specifically weakening properties. You were hit by that AND the sword. And you survived it. You sighed with relief. For now, until someone told you the details, you'd lived and you'd won. Two birds had been killed with one stone, even if it ricocheted back and hit you in the process.

It was a while until footsteps sounded in the hallway. By then you'd gotten stretched out as much as you could, and had explored the room. This was probably Red Velvet's room; all the photos you'd seen framed were picture of cake monsters after a closer look. You didn't bother to look back, even when the doorknob rustled open and the door creaked open. You only turned around after it shut. It was Red Velvet.

He looked to the bed first, and realized you weren't there. And then he looked to the window. He looked at you.

The look on his face was something you'd never seen before. Shock, awe, relief, and joy, all blended together to make his expression. You smiled. He took a hitched breath, taking a step forward.

"Y/N...?"

"I'm here."

That was all the confirmation he needed. He ran forward, almost crashing into you and pulling you into a tight hug, just loose enough to not hurt your wound. He was already sobbing with pure happiness. You laced your arms around him, locking your body against his. He was a mess.

"That healer said.. he.. he thought you wouldn't make it. I thought you were dead for sure. I thought.." He choked out each word between sobs, hugging you closer. You hugged him back.

"I thought I was dead for sure as well."

"I thought I was too late, I thought... I thought you were already gone when the gate opened. You had no pulse when.. when Chea brought the healer up, he was trying to talk everything through when.. when you came back. Your heart... it started beating again. I-I thought you were gone. I thought I lost you. I-" He broke down into your shoulder, balling up your shirt with his fists. You let him get everything out.

Though the rain kept falling, the thunder finally ceased.

In the kingdom of Pure Vanilla lies a chain of mountains, more glorious then anything you could ever see.

"Are you sure you want to go? It's an incredibly dangerous trip, especially to take a kid on."
"I'm positive. He's going to love it. Both the trip and the destination."
