Pranbir: lifeless without you

Part 38: Shades of Ranbir

In morning:
Ranbir was the first one to wake up. He rubbed his eyes adjusting to the lights. He tried to move but couldn't. He noticed Prachi hugging and slightly change their position.
Now, Prachi was laying on his chest. Ranbir held his head as it was hurting too much.
He felt his mouth dry and his stomach churning. He was feeling good, he untangled himself from Prachi and rushed to the bathroom.
He went to the wash bassin and vomited everything. He washed his face and brush his teeth to remove the horrible taste of vomit.

He looked at his reflection and noticed his bloodshot eyes. He hated himself like that. They did it again. They drugged him again. He punched the wall besides the mirror.
He came out to Prachi. She was still in the lengha.
He was about to caress her cheek when he noticed the bruise.
He moved back a bit.

He rushed outside and went to the next room. He knocked hurriedly.
Shahana opened the door and saw a tensed and panicked Ranbir.
Ranbir:"i... need... i need to.... Talk to.... Aryan."
Shahana nodded and moved  aside to let Ranbir get in.
Aryan came out of the washroom when Ranbir directly went to hug him.

Aryan:"Ranbir? What happened?"
He made Ranbir sit on the bed and consoled him.
Seeing Ranbir's condition, Shahana went to get Prachi.

Ranbir:"i... i don't remember anything. They drugged me again right? They did it again. I don't to be like before.... I don't want to be an addict."
He hugged his knees and was in fear.

Aryan, consoling him:"you are not an addict, Ranbir. You didn't take it willingly. They drugged you."
Ranbir:"i hurt everyone... did i hurt you yesterday? I used to be aggressive."
Aryan nodded no and was about to explain him but Ranbir didn't let him.

Ranbir:"i hurt her."
Aryan was confused.
Ranbir:"i hurt Prachi. I slapped her. I promised to protect and take care of her but what did I do?"

Aryan:"you didn't slap her."
Ranbir:"i did. I saw the marks on her cheek."
Aryan:"you didn't do it."
Ranbir:"i become aggressive under the influence of that drug. I did it."
Aryan noticed the girls at the door. He signed Prachi to come forward.
She sat next to Ranbir and held his hands.

Prachi:"if you think that you will hurt then you don't know my Ranbir. My Ranbir will never hurt me, not in this condition or any other condition."

Ranbir:"i didn't hurt you?"
She nodded no.
Ranbir hugged her tightly while she comforted him.
Unknowingly, tears started flowing down from Prachi's eyes. She has never seen Ranbir this vulnerable. She felt bad seeing him like this.
Aryan:"trust yourself, buddy. You will not hurt anyone."

Ranbir broke the hug and looked at Prachi.
Ranbir:"then who did this?" He traced the bruise. Arhana and Prachi exchanged looks.

Ranbir also noticed them.
Prachi:"leave it, i will change and we will have yummy yummy breakfast."
She was about to leave but Ranbir held her hands.
Ranbir:"we said no hiding."
Prachi and Aryan explained everything to Ranbir.

Ranbir, angrily:"how dare she? I am not going to leave her."
He was angrily leaving but Prachi stopped him. She asked him not to do anything.

Ranbir:"no. We stopped before because of their wedding. Not anymore."
He angrily came downstairs.

Dida, Vikram and Pallavi were on the breakfast table.
Pallavi:"come Ranbir. Have some breakfast. You must be hungry."
Ranbir took her glass and threw it.
Dida:"Ranbir...."
Vikram:"what kind of behavior is this?"

Ranbir picked up a glass piece and held Pallavi's hand.
Ranbir:"i warned you if you dare to hurt her what will happen. Now suffer."
He brought the piece of glass near her hand.

Pallavi was scared and called for Vikram.
Dida:"Ranbir, what is this? Leave your mother."
Vikram was trying to stop him as well but in vain.

Arhana and Prachi didn't interfere as they knew Ranbir would not hurt her. He was just trying to make her feel what it's like when she does it.

Vikram pulled him away and threw the piece of glass.
Ranbir:"how does it feel, Mrs Pallavi?"
Pallavi, crying in fear:"have you gone mad? You will hurt your mother."
Ranbir:"if you try to hurt her once more, i will really do it. No relation will count at that time."

Ranbir held Prachi's hand and brought her to his room.
Aryan also left with Shahana.

Ranbir's room:
Prachi was sitting on the bed while Ranbir was pacing around, blabbering furiously. He was angry.
Ranbir:"how can they do this? Hurting me wasn't enough....."

Prachi brought him to her on the bed and calmed him down.
Prachi:"take a deep breath ok?"
He did as instructed.

Prachi:"i am fine."
Ranbir glared at her.
Prachi, sheepishly:"ok ok fine. It is hurting a bit but your anger won't help easing the pain."

He traced the bruise with his fingertip. Prachi hissed in pain.
It was hurting more than she was showing. He went to his bathroom and came back with an ointment.
Prachi closed her eyes anticipating the burn but instead she felt his lips on her cheek. She looked at him.

Prachi:"this might ease the pain."
But she noticed that he was still angry. Although his anger was at its peak, he was very gentle with her.
He applied the ointment carefully. He didn't want to hurt her more.
She was looking at him lovingly.

Ranbir:"is it hurting a lot?"
Prachi:"not anymore."
Ranbir:"rest."
Prachi:"no Mister. You need rest. Come here."
She pulled him towards her but he lost his balance and fell on her. He supported himself in order not to crush.

Prachi:"this is like deja vu."
Ranbir remembered the last time they were in this position.
They kissed for the first time that day.
The memories brought a small smile on his face. He tried to hide it but Prachi saw it.
Prachi:"finally.... A small smile."
She hooked her hands around his neck and pulled him a bit closer.
Prachi:"i got to see protective Ranbir today."
Ranbir was looking at her and quickly captured her lips.
The kiss was slow and caring. Ranbir was relieved that she was fine. Knowing that she is ok, meant everything to him."

He moved back with a much brighter smile.
Ranbir:"thought to complete the déjà vu."
Prachi smiled happily as he hugged her.
They continued to rest for the day.
