*This is a poem I wrote for a close friend of mine who was struggling emotionally. I doubt you'll see this, but I love you (as platonically as possible).*
I didn't know where to go
When you said, "Stay away."
But anyway, I said okay
And walked the other way.
You remember that day
When you promised you'd stay?
You shine like the stars on a clear autumn night
On those better days when you feel more than alright
But you're pretty and fragile, like a butterfly's wings
And I'm scared that I'll lose that to those bad feelings.
There'll always be things that I can't say or do
But even then I'll always be here for you
If you want to laugh
If you need to cry
Just know that I'm here
Even though I'm not nearby
Your fragile heart breaks so easily
And I'm scared that next time It'll be because of me
And even if it's not
There's this lingering fear
That next time you need me
I might not be near.
I know I'm just me.
I'm not her,
I'm not you.
But I'll still do my best
Whenever you need me to.
