The first few days of a new beginning
Were the first days of a long, winding taleThree friends, two turned lovers, the other a dear companion
And from here, the story sets sail.
Several days of sweet laughter, inseparable were they
A trio of fated best friendsBut like all the best stories that tug on our hearts
All good things must come to an end.
An illness took over the third friend one day
Unexpected and unfortunate. In her absence, the other two seemed to grow apart
And that's where the first obstacle's met.
Upon her return, the third found the others
Their love faced a great test.Which it ultimately failed, leaving them torn apart
And the third was caught in the mess.
Though they tried to stay friends, once again, they were tested
And three had been turned into twoThe first friend found solace in other companions
And the other two had to make do.
They strived for a while, on just each other
And for a time, things seemed back on trackBut the second eventually left the third behind
Due to something that she must have lacked.
It feels strange, here and now
To be friend number 3.
The one caught in the middle
Always stuck in between.
But now that friends number 1 and 2 left
I realize that I
Only have me.
