(This next poem is for two very special people who have helped me through some of the darkest times I had this past school year. They've been there for me to lean on and talk to when everyone else reprimanded me for having emotions. Thank you, AJ and Nicole, for being my little rays of hope amongst the overwhelming and intimidating darkness life is so intent on bringing. May you always receive in turn what you've given me.)
Once upon a time,
I sat alone.
Within the silence
Was a desperate cry
And you appeared,
like a blessingAnd for that, I owe you more than I may ever be capable of giving.
Once upon a time,
I was afraid.
Again and again,
through every trial,
you turned up before me
Like a beacon of light
To hold my hand and dry my eyes. And for that, I owe you everything you gave me and more beyond even that.
You reached out.
You guided me.
You gave me strength.
You healed me.
You showed me a better way.
You helped me understand what I already knew.Like an angel,
you lifted me out of my misery
and flew me into a comforting place, just for me.
And for that, I owe you everything that I am.
Thank you.
